My Dark Past

Chapter Two

Leo

I walk into the pavilion and am immediately greeted by Jason. I'm a bit surprised, due to the fact that he is never this excited to see me.

"Leo! I need your help!" Jason has a sparkle in his eyes, and a wide smile on his face.

"What with?" I ask, with my usual grin.

"Me and Piper are going to get married!" He practically squealed.

It feels like a punch to the gut. I feel like all of the air in my lungs has been sucked out. I feel like I'm going to be sick.

"Leo?" Jason asks, still excited. I come back into reality, and find that I have a frozen smile still plastered to my face. I immediately start talking.

"Dude, that's great! I'm so excited! Can I be your flower girl?" I ask, with the most devilish smirk I can manage.

"Umm.. No. But, I do have a favor to ask. Will you craft the ring?" He asks in a solemn voice.

"Absolutely, Sparky." I reply, punching him in the arm.

My actual feelings on the matter are a bit different. I feel a lump in my throat, because he wanted ME to make the ring. But I also feel sick. I feel more like an outcast than ever before. I tear up, and smile. But it's not genuine. It's just bitter.

"Oh Leo, don't cry!" Piper says, walking over and giving me a hug. I feel the tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Oh, I'm just so excited for the two of you." I reply. I feel like someone has stabbed me in my side.

"I am so happy you feel that way. And also, we're gonna get an apartment together. In New York. What do you think?" Piper has a twinkle in her eyes. She leans into Jason, and smiles. I know she didn't have any idea how alone I felt, but it still hurt. Badly. I want to vomit. I want to sob. But I won't let them know. And they won't notice how guarded I am. Because of course, they have each other. Everyone has someone. Except me.

As I lay in bed that night, I roll in around in a fit. I feel so hot. My stomach hurts so bad. And I'm SO tired. I want to give in to sleep. But I won't. I won't risk the nightmares. 

My body arks and I scream in pain, because suddenly I feel severe pain in my head. It feels like a white hot knife is searing my brain.

"AAAAAH!" My voice is warbled, and I pass out. But not before I see the face of a terrified Nyssa looking over me.
