Gavin felt as if he were in a field of lilies. Not because he was in one, so to speak, but because he was sitting next to one. The scent radiating from the female seated in the stiff leather seat beside him was divine, and the greater the time passed, the stronger the fumes became. The smell of (Y/n)'s perfume was addicting, and it was just enough to drive Gavin absolutely insane.

Cause I'm in love with these Tumblr girls, with skinny waists and drug habits
Pretty faces love status, she acts as if she's the baddest.

He had to null his desires and persist his patience. If he were to advance onto her now, she would never forgive him. He would be moving too fast, too soon.

You're drunk, Gavin.

The longer he sat there, the more he believed that voice. The silence was making him unsteady; the rings in his ears and the delusions in his head were causing him to lose track of his thoughts, and soon he wouldn't be able to control whether he would act upon them or not. Gavin Reed when drunk is an untamable beast-- its only kryptonite being the satisfaction of its needs.

Right now, it needed (Y/n).

But there was still that voice inside of Gavin's conscience that was telling him no. It was telling him that while he was pretty drunk, he wasn't completely hammered. Doing what he wanted would only leave him feeling regretful the next morning.

Just get home, and then go to sleep. Do not act on your desires. It's too soon.

"You live in a nice neighborhood," (Y/n) complimented, looking through the window at all of the houses on Gavin's street.

Gavin only replied with an unintelligible "hmph" before looking toward his own window and staring at his reflection in the glass. His eyes were drooped and relied on the support of the dark bags underneath his eyes to stay even somewhat lifted. His lips were fixed in a permanent line, with no sign of emotion whatsoever. The scar staining the bridge of his nose bothered him to no end, and he put a finger to it in hopes that it would suddenly disappear. The worry lines on his forehead creased when he found that the pink mark was still there after removing his finger, much to his disappointment.

Gavin hurriedly rushed to grab the door handle the second the taxi had stopped. In order to tame the beast, he had to get out of that vehicle as soon as possible. The longer he lingered, the greater his desires became.

(Y/n) laughed at his foolish behavior, her heels clicking along the pavement as she stepped out of the autonomous taxi herself. She slung her large purse over her shoulder and slammed the door shut before quickly walking toward the man rushing up his porch to get to the front door as fast as humanly possible.

"Wait for me!" Gavin heard her call, feeling comfort wash over him as he heard the click of his key unlocking the door after fumbling with the handle a bunch.

A mass of fur brushed against his right pant leg as he entered, and he saw his cat Ozzy circling said leg as Gavin reached to flick the lights on.

"Hey buddy," He greeted, picking up the fluff of black fur and snuggling the cat into his chest.

He heard a girlish gasp from behind him and nearly dropped poor Ozzy onto the floor as (Y/n) suddenly appeared before him, startling the tipsy ex-detective. She ran a gentle hand through Ozzy's matted fur, and Gavin nearly lost his shit when he saw that the female's lips had curled into a loving smile as she watched the cat's reaction.

"What's it's name?" She asked, scratching her perfectly painted nails against Ozzy's head.

"His name is Ozzy."
