The rest of the week before school started was spent hanging out Lyla and Zion in the evenings to do something and meet up with Simon most mornings, usually for a swim and then breakfast at Club House (the cute cafe we discovered near the pool), where we would talk more about our music, interests and hobbies and on occasion, Simon would bring his guitar and we'd work on singing a few songs together at the park near my house.

It was strange how easy we hit off. We may have only known each other for a week, but it sure did feel like a life time. I told him a lot of things about me. Like my awesome brother he'd be going to school with and how he was adopted, my two crazy best friends, Zion's ugly brother who was practically my life enemy, and a whole lot more.

I think it was safe to say that Simon and I could be considered best friends. And I was pretty positive that he would get along just well with Izzy, Lyla and Zion.

Which brings me to my current state of despair... Being late to the first day back at school. As it appears, Izzy being the wonderful brother that he is, promised my mom that he would wake me up and take me to school today (which is why I didn't bother setting an alarm because come on, who even does that when you have people willing to just wake you up by literally kicking you out of bed).

Only he didn't live up to that promise. That jerk thought that it would be funny if he just so happened to 'forget' to wake me up and leave home without me.

Imagine the surprise I got when I woke up at 8:30- 15 minutes before class started might I add- to my mother calling me, asking if I was already at school and had my timetable.

Long story short I rushed to get ready, promising to get my jerk of a brother back for his sense of humor, and drove deadly fast to school.

Right now, I was already 30 minutes late to first period, Biology, and was heading to my class door worrying about my fate if I didn't have Mr.Lincon as a teacher and was instead put in the witch's class- I'm not joking, Ms.Bailey's an actual witch.

As Mr.Lincon spotted me, near the door waiting hesitantly for his permission to enter into class, a disappointing frown form on his face, I let out a relieved sigh. Thank god for this guy! Literally the best.

"Oh Trish, what am I going to do with you? 30 minutes late to the best subject ever?! And to think you actually enjoyed this class!" He exclaimed in mock disappointment, a sure smile tugging on the corner of his mouth.

The rest of the class just stared at us all in confusion, while some didn't bother paying attention.

"How about I pay you 5 to just pretend I was here the entire time and let me into my favorite class ever?" I asked trying to keep myself from laughing.

"$7 and you got a deal," he said with a smirk.

"Deal!" I said as I entered the class and took the last seat available near the front, all eyes on me as I did so.

Sue me if Mr.L and I shared our mutual love for biology, hence explaining why we acted more like friends and I was usually claimed the teachers pet. I didn't mind, Mr.L was the coolest teacher in the school. Trust me, anyone in the school would agree on that fact. Even students who weren't in his class. And plus, he went to high school with my mom and had been one of her closest friends. I'd known him even before he was a teacher at Lakewood high.

As he continued of with the lesson explaining the chapter on the plasma membrane I had already read and study, I looked around the class trying to catch any familiar faces. Lyla and Zion were also supposed to be doing biology, but like the looks of it, they were probably in the other class.

Some of the people in my class, I was acquintances with, but not really friends. I wasn't really one of the popular kids in my school. Sure I was a pretty social person and hung out with a lot of different groups, but I wasn't really tight with anyone else apart from Lyla, Zion, my brother and a few of his friends on the basketball team.
