Jasmin's POV
I was exercising on the house gym with music blasting through the speakers when my phone buzzed. I stopped after a few seconds and looked at the phone.
Jack - Hey, Jasmin, it's Jack :)
Jack? I thought for a bit but then remembered that Jack was the guy from the other day. I picked the phone and my towel, to clean the sweat from my face and neck, and went to the balcony. The sun was setting, and reflected in the pool. I sat on the floor with my legs crossed and started to type a message.
To Jack - Hey Jack. Sorry if I took to long. How are you doing? ;)
I set the phone near me and started to meditate. It's a thing that I've been doing for a while now and it actually helps. After a few minutes, the phone buzzed and I checked it again.
Jack - Just on the balcony chilling out, what about you?
To Jack - I'm on the balcony as well hahaha, but I'm meditating.
Jack - You meditate? That'a really cool. I've heard it's really good.
To Jack - It's calming and comforting. It's my favourite hobby.
Jack - So I was wondering since you're new here, I thought I could show you around LA. What do you think?
Wow, that was fast, I thought and laughed a bit too loud for my own good.
To Jack - That's really thoughtful of you, Jack. It would be great, thank you. :)
Jack - So when are you available?
To Jack - After dinner today? Is that good for you?
Jack - That's perfect. I'll pick you up at 9.
To Jack - Sounds perfect. I'll send you the address. See you then.
I ran to my room and hope in the shower, it was already 8 pm and I needed to have everything done by eight fifty.
After the shower, I chose from my walk-in closet a simple white dress and some white heels. (picture above).
I went to the dining room and dinner was served. It was my usual vegan plate. Yes, I'm a vegan and I'm happy with my choice because of this way I'm slowing down the animal exploitation and reducing my carbon footprint.
After my wonderful meal, I ate a grapefruit and excused myself from the table to clean myself and finish my make-up. After a few minutes, I was all done and went to the door where Jack was waiting for me at the door with Mathilda by his side. He was wearing a simple plain white shirt, with black jeans and white vans.
- Miss Arkwright, Mister Jack is waiting for you. - she said introducing him while at it.
- Thank you, Mathilda. I'll probably be home late, so don't worry. If my brother doesn't need anything else you and the rest of the staff can go and rest. Good night, Mathilda. - I told her and she nodded.
- Have a nice night, Miss Arkwright and Mister Jack. - she said before closing the door behind us.
- Mathilda seems very nice. - Jack commented with a smile.
- She is. She's been with my family since my parents moved from the United Kingdom to New York. - I told Jack when we started to walk around.
- That explains the accent that you have. - he laughed a bit.
- Technically I was born on the US but I got used to the Brittish accent, because of my parents. - she told him.
- It's really funny hearing you. I like the accent. - he told me and I blushed a bit.
We walked for a while he was telling me all the good spots on LA, restaurants and stuff. Jack had a beautiful voice which makes the walk much more bearable.
Los Angels has its charm I must admit that and I'm not regretting at all moving here to finish university.
- So you still didn't tell me the reason why you moved all the way across the country. Was it for your boyfriend? - he bravely asked.
I laughed a bit loud for my own good again and he was looking to me like I was an alien. I answered him. - Jack, I've moved here because of the university and not for a boy. In fact, I don't think I'll ever change anything about myself until I'm sure about the person beside me being the right one.
His face showed some relief, I don't know why but he said: - I didn't mean to offend you in any way. I was just curious.
- That's fine Jack. - I told him with a smile which he returned. - What about you? Why did you move to LA? - I asked him.
- For my career.
- What do you do?
- I'm a singer actually. - he proudly said.
- That's fantastic and explains why your voice is so melodic. - I told him.
- Well, thank you, miss. - he said with a smile.
We went to a bar and asked for something to eat and drink. We sat at a booth and talked for a while before our orders were served. It was so nice being here and be able to talk to someone that it wasn't my brother. I love my twin don't get me wrong ok? But I lived with him and everything, he was always there but I was getting tired of him being my only friend. I was homeschooled until university, because of my family is a part of the British royal family we couldn't go to public schools and my mum didn't like the idea of us being in private schools either so as she was a teacher she homeschooled us. I didn't have any friends apart from my brother.
After our little snack, we walked around for a little while longer, before we went back home. He took me to the door.
- Thank you for the wonderful night, Jack. I had fun while exploring Los Angels. And a huge thank you for listening to me. It's been hard being friendless for all these years you know? So thank you again.
- It was good talking to you too. I loved our night and I was hoping we could repeat it. - he told me.
- That would be very nice, Jack. I'll love to do it again.
