Accents. Just do them right. I absolutely hate it when people can't type out accents correctly. They just make the writing look like they fell asleep on their keyboard.

Good:

"Why hello, there, mate!", said Lou, with an Australian accent. "I was so excited to meet you guys.".

Bad:

"WHY-EE ELLO DERE, MA-YTE!!!", said Lou. "AYE WAHS SOW EXCYTED TOOW MATE YOU GOIZ". She was Australian, by the way.

Which one is easier to read? I'm not being offensive, but I have read stories where they try to sound out the accents but then miserably failing, as you can see what happened up there.
