HARRY'S POV
When I get back to the hotel room I don't see Jane in bed anymore so I quickly start to panic as to where she went. I check the bathroom and the bedroom area but she is nowhere to be found. Where could she have gone?
And to make matters worse, there's no phones in the afterlife. I start to pace back and forth around the hotel room. Is she mad at me? Did she somehow leave? Did she go back to her parents? These questions race my mind and I don't realize how distracted I am until I hear the door click open to a damp-haired Jane entering the room.
"Where did you go?" I question a little harsher than I intended.
"Where did you go?" She retaliates back furrowing her eyebrows.
"I-I uh, went outside to get some fresh air." I stammer out nervously.
"Okay... well I finished up the shampoo and conditioner and went to the lobby to get
more. I didn't know how long we would be here for."
"Well, I was thinking we could get something to eat. Maybe at the diner we passed earlier?" I ask hesitantly.
"I don't really feeeeeeeel like going to the diner tonight, I was thinking we could order room service or something...I'm exhausted from today" she says from the bathroom while she brushes her hair keeping eye contact with the bathroom mirror.
"How are you exhausted? You just took a nap," I laugh, confused.
"I don't know maybe because my own parents basically rejected me as their own daughter?" She shot back.
"Okay how about this, we pack up our stuff and go right now and stop by the diner on our way out for something to eat. I get that you're tired but I won't be able to drive us home if I don't eat something." I say hoping she will oblige to the plan I just made.
Jeez, I thought Max was stubborn. Then I met Jane...
"Fine. Guess I got the extra shampoo and conditioner for nothing," She says while starting to pack up her things, myself following suit.
After about 45 minutes of packing, we finally load all of our stuff onto the luggage cart and head towards the elevator to go down to the lobby.
"Hey where did we leave the car?" I ask Jane as we exit the doors of the hotel.
"Ummmm at the valet I think." she replies without much thought.
"Oh you're right, but where is the valet?" I mumble to myself since Jane is disinterested.
I look around the front of the hotel searching for any sign of a valet, but there is none. Where did we leave the bloody car?
"Uh Jane I don't think they have a valet..."
"Harry I'm not up for games right now, I'm tired, please just get the car." Jane says annoyed at me because of how long we have been standing here.
"Well do you have a ticket for a valet? Because I don't even have the keys." I say getting annoyed as well.
Jane flashes a glare at me and walks into the hotel, leaving me out front.
JANE'S POV
I walk up to the front desk where a lady is typing on a computer.
"Excuse me, where do we pick up our car?" I ask, masking my irritation at Harry with politeness to the woman.
"It should be at the valet! It's just outside to the right and around the corner. Just tell them what room number you were in," she says with a smile.
"Great thanks," I tell her as I walk away.
Once I get back outside to Harry I walk straight past him and around the corner and sure enough, right where she said it'd be, is the valet booth.
I hear footsteps coming from around the corner, "Jane where are you go-"
I stand there with my arms crossed with an 'I told you so' look on my face.
"No ticket. Just the room number Harry," I say before turning to the valet and requesting our car.
Once our car comes, we pack our bags in the back and Harry starts to drive us to the diner so he can get his take away.
HARRY'S POV
That bloody hidden valet. I mean who doesn't give out a ticket for a valet anyways?
Jane and I are almost to the diner and neither of us are in a good mood at this point. I considered just ditching the diner but I have to at least leave a note to her parents or something.
There goes the idea of me saving the horrid day.
"I'm just going to run in and grab my food," I tell Jane as I put the car in park.
She mumbles an okay as I close the door. The diner is practically empty with no sign of Jane's parents. A bit odd considering we are late anyways...but oh well.
The hostess is not in front so I just decide to grab a child's menu to flip over and write a quick note in case her parents do show up. I come up with a quick 'Jane is better off without you' note that's written in blue crayon and leave it by one of the booths closest to the front.
I take a deep breath as I walk out into the parking lot and hope this drive back to Castle Hill won't be so awkward because of my dumb mistakes.
