Your P.O.V.I stirred awake, it was still dark. I let my legs fall and I pressed my stomach to the bark. I peered down, princess was doing her shots for the night. She'd been doing so ever since we'd gaven her that lesson on archery. Her posture had improved and her arms trembled less
I divert my eyes to the voices, Hak and Kija. I couldn't make out what they were saying but it seemed to shock the dragon
Yona, "I wish to protect Hak one day" her voice came to mind. If only Haru were like you....striving to live. A stray tear rolled down my pale cheek, he was so bitchy but I didn't care
My forehead pressed against the wood of the branch I rested on. The vague droplets soaking into the bark
"I swear (Y/n) why are you so serious all the time" his snarky grin showed off his pearly whites
"Sorry these are work hours for me" my monotone voice retorted and I returned a lazy smirk to which he rolled his eyes
"Come on live a little" I shrugged and he stormed off irritated with my lack of a response. Only then did I chuckle staring at his back
The silky red robe reflecting the sun. The black ornaments complementing his raven hair. The way he dragged his feet as an arrogant and spoiled brat who didn't get his way
Just when I thought I'd gotten over the pain. My hands clutching onto the branch for dear life, my nails digging into the wood like a scratching post. So many more tears making their way down my newly found tear stained face. In only a few weeks makes the fifth anniversary...
Marking exactly five years from when I lost all I found dear. After then, I had absolutely nothing. Well until now, now I have two younger siblings, Beanpole and a distant cousin? But no matter how much more family I gain that spot of my heart can never be filled
They finally arose. A golden crown of spikes adorn the mountain peaks, the warmth of the sun's rays cascading over my body like a warm blanket of light. My red and swollen eyes meeting the mornings greeting
I jump down and nock my stuff out leaving them under the tree I wander into the forest looking for a river where I could wash my face but to no avail having to return empty handed
Once back I notice everyone is up and ready to go "Where were you?!?" I grab my bag from Kija "Taking an early morning stroll" I respond to Yun with a rather careless look plastered on my face. Beanpole got closer his face only a few inches from my face "Your eyes....were you crying~"
I shrugg lazily "So what if I was" I push past him leaving him flabbergasted
Yona's P.O.V.
Her cheerful face fell flat, puffy red eyes and a small frown ghosting over her lips. Those were the features that adorned (Y/n)'s beautiful face
She pushed past Hak and got moving having all of us following suit
Why, is she so sad...
My brows knit together my lips pressed together in a thin line to the side. I had to cheer her up! That frown doesn't suit her and I have to get rid of it! My fists clenched and I gained a determined face "Who you goin' to beat up princess~" Hak whispered in my ear teasingly
"(Y/n)'s sadness!" I whisper yell pumping my fist in the air
But to my obliviousness she laughed at my antics. She stopped walking and I stared at her, my head tilting curiously. She seemed distant and then *SMACK* she slapped herself, rather hard too making her cheeks red and most likely sting "You're right! I gotta beat up my sadness" she said determination sparking in her eyes
Your P.O.V.
I can't mope around like this! My cheeks sting lightly and I puff out my bottom lip having my eyebrows arch. If I'm going to be sad it's only going to be on the anniversary at the most. "Let's find the Blue Dragon today!" I exclaim pumping energy into my dull system
Everyone flinched at my outburst but I retained my determined look nonetheless having our long hike comensed
And long it was having to go up a whole mountain until reaching the village I talked about the night prior. The sky had already grown dark again giving the village an even eerier look than necessary as they did a fine job on their own
The masks they wore were odd to say the least but not necessary in a bad way, simply in an 'I don't trust wacha might do' type of way if you know what I mean, having both Yun and Yona retreat to within the small circle we'd made around them
Hak holding on to his glaive rather tightly all while Kija got ready to release his Dragon claw if need be. I myself ready with my spear at hand
"Who are you?"
If I were to guess it was the village elder speaking to us. I looked over to see the princess' face although I couldn't quite read the expression she held
"Bring forth the Blue Dragon!"
My eyes widen within a second my jaw gaping open "That's too direct" Yun scolded Kija nonchalantly having me still gape at his rudeness
"Blue Dragon?" The elder commences taking a glance at the villagers surrounding him "There is no one here by that name" he finishes off "It is not a name, he's the one who carries the dragon's blood" I correct regaining my composure from my initial shock
"There is no need to hide him, just tell him she is waiting" Kija continues motioning to Yona toward the end
The man inspects Yona before returning his attention to Kija "I don't know what you're talking about" Everyone took a sharp inhale not having any of the bull he was feeding us "perhaps you have mistaken us for a different village. This is simply a small settlement without much. We don't want trouble"
I glance around, my eyes landing on a small family. One of the curious kids not having his mask on only for his mother to slide it on after noticing he wasn't wearing it "But-" Kija was getting riled up having Yona need to step in
"We're sorry, we were trying to find someone but I guess he isn't here" She looked to the floor saddened attempting to pull off the mirage
"However, we're tired from our journey, having also an injured companion"
I gesture to Beanpole who exposes his bandaged chest both of us helping Yona out with pulling this little fib "Would it be alright if..." "We stay the night" Beanpole continues my initial statement having me finish it off
The elder ponders the request "You must have had a rough time. As you can see this is an improvised settlement so we cannot offer much" Yona nods in understanding and thanks him accepting what he could offer. We followed him as he led us to the cave where we'd be spending the night
"What are the masks for?" The princess asks curiously
"It is a tradition. Those who are single shouldn't show their faces"
"That is very interesting" Yona says having me hum in response
"Interesting indeed"
A/n : Sorry to end it here but I want to save all the action for the next chapter XD
