Chapter 22

Everyone has long gone to sleep. Which leaves me alone to my thoughts as I wander the forest looking for somewhere to clear my thoughts. Not really caring where I was or how far I'd wandered off, I take a seat under a tree. A small opening between a few of the trees allowing me a clear view of the moon and night sky above. Here, all alone basking in the moonlight, I truly feel small. My senses completely dulled to what was in front of me

I hugged my knees seeking warmth within myself. A stray tear rolling down my cheek

"Are you. . . okay?" It's Shinha. He comes up next to me. I'm quick to swipe at my cheek, and let my knees fall to my sides sitting criss cross. I lean back, my arms sustaining my upper body behind me

I then pat down the grassy patch next to me. He sits ridgidly, back straight and hugging his knees awkwardly

"I am now" he doesn't say anything else but he sits there almost expectantly "He hurt me a lot in the past and a lot of the people I cared about"

Shinha awkwardly pats my shoulder and his fur grazzes my side. I smile at his efforts, they're honestly quite comforting "Thank you, I've not had many listen to my troubles" I turn to face him and we share a smile. The moonlight especially highlights his blue robes. And in his comforting silence, I no longer feel alone

Not long after you had opened up to Shinha, you slipped into a peaceful slumber. Perhaps the first you'd had in quite some time. There, Shinha shared his long soft fur. Blanketing the two of you and slipping off into dreamland as well

The following morning, Shinha awoke first. It came as a slight surprise to him seeing as you'd always been of the first to rise in the morning. But he could only guess the many nights of little sleep had caught up to you. Not wanting to disturb your rest, he gingerly removed his fur and reattached it. Finding the way you curled in on yourself for warmth cute in a way

Still wanting to let you sleep longer, he picked you up as gently as he could. Fixing you on his back, under his fur proving to be no easy task. But feeling rewarded as you nestled into his shoulder. Like so, Shinha gave you a piggy back ride back to the rest of the group

The majority of them were already awake. Hak particularly welcoming him with a fierce glare, his jaw clenching. Body becoming overall tense. The subtle changes in his demeanor speaking volumes to Shinhas detail prone hyper aware eyes

Yun only gave a questioning stare, but said nothing. In turn, Jeaha was none the quieter. As the green dragon took to giggling almost immediately, going as far as to even tease Hak on what the two of you might have been up to

The chatter made the rest of the group stir, Yona and Zeno waking up. You seemed to begin to wake up too. But the warmth surrounding you was oh so alluring. Only bringing yourself to peek an eye open but not enough to really notice anything, and doing the weird mouth thing where you open and close your mouth. Almost like tasting something and chewing one or twice before nuzzling and falling asleep again

Shinha carried you for a bit longer before you actually stirred. Beginning to wake up. You tense, almost hugging Shinha before rubbing your eyes and blinking them open. You hummed curiously, becoming aware of being carried "You're warm" you mumble into his ear and you can see the shy upturn to Shinhas lips

You tap his shoulder motioning him to stop. The rest of the group becoming aware of his stop in motion. Shinha sets you down and you stretch out your arms "(Y/n), you're awake!" The princess exclaims happily

You nod, smiling. Feeling replenished "Thank you" you smile even brighter at Shinha. Probably still hazy from having just woke up you boldly take Shinhas hand and continue to walk along his side

This only fuels Jeahas theory and Haks jealousy. All while you remain completely oblivious to their bubble of concentrated ill intentions

Anyways, I'd gotten this lovely request a few chapters ago and couldn't let you down. I'd already had the beginning written out and only added to it
