The sun peaks over the roof of the isolated little cabin. After long travels the lot of you have reached Ik-soo's, where it all began

"Tomorrow" you mumble under your breath. No one hears you and no one is meant to. Your head hangs as everyone approaches Ik-soo but instead of following everyone you trail off to the cliff side

You drop everything and fall to your knees. No tears shed but your eyes burn just as much as if they had. You feel nothing at all and as of your insides are being torn apart all at once. It's numbing

They're all gone. Five long years alone, so so alone

Tears begin to build up but you will them away. There, sitting alone you feel so utterly lonely and abandoned. Overwhelmed by all the pent up emotions of the past years. Numb to everything but your own mind. The world continuing around you

Before you realize, it's nightfall. You force yourself up, the darkness embracing you through the forest as you return to Ik-soo's cabin. "(Y/n)! Where have you been?" The princess exclaims. Your head never rises to meet her eyes. An inaudible whisper the only reply she receives

"Where'd you leave your bag!?" You hardly glance up at Yun when he asks

"hm? oh i forgot it"

"Did you leave it back at the last camp?!" You don't reply and instead go inside and lay down. Everyone looks amongst themselves. Worried glances exchanged all around. You look like a disheveled mess and it seems as if you hadn't slept all week even when they knew you had

A sigh rings out drawing everyone's attention. Ik-soo. The prophets happy go lucky attitude was replaced a solemn frown. Seriousness clinging to the air like a soaked white t-shirt would to skin. "The sword and shield are yet to reveal themselves" no one understands his words. But he doesn't falter as he stares at your beaten form; curling in on itself on the floor. It looks like you've completely given up all hope, inspite of being surrounded by it

Ik-soo, the only one able to see you for what you were. A broken child

His magenta irises glimmering. You needed to open up and dig in the wound. Treat it and heal before the prophecy could be fulfilled. The whole operation needing to be held up until this happened. He knew

"All in due time"

The sun hasn't even risen by the time you're at their side again. Lying limply at the foot of the memorial stone Ik-soo had put up for them when you'd met him. King Daichi, Queen, parents, Haru. The tallies of every person who was massacred were there. Give or take a few. No one knew the exact number. Countless civilians, a few actually loyal guards. The entire (L/n) clan was completely wiped out

And here you sat. Alone at the cliffs edge overlooking the waterfall. The sound of the water coming crushing down the only thing filling your ears. Had it not been for your racing thoughts overpowering the water, it would have been soothing

But no. Many of the repressed emotions began resurfacing and it became increasingly difficult to shove them back. The inner discord was far too great to keep ignoring and so you finally allowed yourself to cry. Let the river flow

The sky is calm for a long time. You don't notice when it starts raining until it's pouring

The cold worlds turmoil soaking through to your core. The vacant strikes of a blade sounding hollow in the distance. It's all hollow, hollow and cold

"(Y/n)! What are you doing out here in the rain like this!? How long have you been here?"

You struggle to look up at Hak from your fetal position. It feels pitiful. He can sense it, see it practically. Soon he'll be soaked through as well "Let's get your out of here" He drops to you side and scoops you into his arms

All you can do is reach out to the carved stone
