I ran up to her as she fell into the flames.
"Rose!" I scream out as I finally reach her. As I cradle her in my arms, I look for some sign of life from what seems to be a lifeless body. "Rose. listen to me. I know you can hear me, you just have to hold on until I can get you somewhere safe, okay? You're going to be fine Rose." As I say that I burst into tears. I blame myself for what happened. "It's all my fault... It's all my fault! I made this happen! But why her! Please not Rose!" As I say that, Jack runs up behind me and shouts over the sound of falling timber, and bombs. "Doctor, It's not your fault! I know a place where we can take her! She'll be okay, but we have to get out of here. Now!" As I pick up Rose softly, I look at Jack, who grabs my shirt to drag me out of the building.
I lowered Rose into the front seat of Jack's SUV and look back at the burning building watching it crumble to the ground, feeling guilty. "Well... that went well didn't it?" Jack says dryly as he too was watching as building it was slowly being reduced to ashes. I don't even fully remember what happened. It was a long night
I place my sleeping angel into a king single bed. As I watch Rose sleep I hope and pray that she will wake up. Jack has brought us here saying that this is the base of Torchwood. I was skeptical about this place at first, as Torchwood had been my enemy since the 1800s, so this is the last place I would want to be. However my perspective of this place has changed in a matter of minutes as everyone is taking such good care of Rose and I. It's hard to believe I used to be enemies with these people.
So beautiful, I think myself as I hold Rose's hand tenderly. Now that I know for sure she is alive, I work up the courage to leave the sleeping girl in peace, and go talk to Toshiko, Owen, Ianto, Jack and Gwen about what is happening. "So what's going on out here?" I ask and all eyes turn on me, I walk out of Rose's room trying not to knock anything over, "well what's happening is we have given her a special mixture of Krillitane oil and penicillin. What it's doing is it's mending all of the..um.. dramatic injuries. so that means her broken hip, spine, 3 of her left ribs
Owen!" Jack snaps as if he could read my mind. I look up to Rose' door, my face must have been deathly pale because all of a sudden I felt sick listening to Owen list off Rose's injuries. "wh-where's your bathroom?" I ask, trying to hide how I am feeling. "We don't have a bathro-"
"Up the stairs to your right."
"Thank you, Jack."
I take only a few steps before I keel over and clutch my stomach in pain. I hear Jack leap up the stairs, and come to my aid. "Hey, Doc, you okay? Doc? Doc?" The world abruptly goes black for what feels like 2 seconds. I force my eyes open only to find myself feeling sick, I jump out of Jack's arms, what? Jack was holding me? I sprint off towards the bathroom and splash my face with cold water. Why isn't it working? I think to myself as I make my way to what I think is a high-tech toilet. I crouch againt the toilet and throw up all my bad memories. As I throw up, Jack walks in. He stands in the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest and looks at me with worry written on his face. "Thank you for going to the bin. It means less work for our cleaners. But anyway, are you okay?" I lift my head out of the 'bin', I take one glimps at Jack and try to speak, but my stomach is saying otherwise. I lean my head back into the bin to throw up more but nothing comes out. "ohhh" I groan as I lean back on the wall and face Jack.
I open my eyes and see Jack right infront of me. As I shuffle backwards my back hits the wall, I suddenly realise I'm on a desk, Wait how long was I out for? I look around the room and try to figure out where I am. "You're just in my office" Jack states with a soft voice as he looks at Ianto and puts a hand on my head to check my temperature. "How long-"
"An hour, maybe more." Jack states as he and Ianto both give me concerned looks. "What-"
"Stupid Owen started yapping his mouth again without thinking." I must look really bad because I keep getting cut off from my sentences. "Again?" I ask a bit amused. "It's not the first time it's happened. He did it to Gewn too when she saw her first death." Ianto states as he crosses his arms and looks at Jack. Jack raises an eyebrow "Yeah well, lets not go into to much detail with that." I sit up on the desk only to be pushed back down by Ianto this time. "Doctor I'm sorry, but I'm with Jack on this one, you need to rest."
"Rest, rest!" I do my best to roll my eyes without giving myself brain damage, "you want me to rest all the ti-." My world is going black and my breathing slows. I force myself to wake up. I force my eyes open only to feel pinch in my arm, "Ow!" I scream as I look up at Jack like a child, "J-Jack? What the hell was th-th-th-" I get cut mid sentence as my world goes dark once more. Why does this always happen to me?
The last thing I hear before passing out is a soft voice that echoes, "I'm sorry, my dear Doctor."
I wake up to a start "Rose!" I scream. I accidentally headbut Jack in the face as I suddenly sit upright, he jumps back with a start. "Ow! Doctor!" He moans as he fixes his eyes back on me, worry and fear written all over his face. "Doctor, it's Rose. She's awake."
I jump up and sprint to her beedroom only to have Jack catch my arm strongly. "Doctor I also have some bad news. Owen has done many tests on her and we have found out that she has no memory of anything before the accident." I look at him trying to decifer the information, then it finaly clicks. "She dosen't remember me, does she?" I ask, I can feel hot tears well up in my eyes as the news rolls me like a ton of bricks. Jack looks down and stares at the gap under Rose's door. The shake of his head is a small one but I swear I can see the tears fall down his cheeks. He stares up at me and takes my hand, he takes a few steps closer to me and wraps his strong arms around my waist moving his hand up and down my back in a tight hug. He moves his head to my ear and whispers, "You can try all you like, but her memories may just be too far out of our reach," Jack kisses my cheek, which sends a chill up my spine and he leaves me alone with nothing but the plain silver of Rose's door to look at and a horrible epiphany, "but, we'll do whatever we can in an attempt to regain her memories, in the meantime, maybe you can visit her once a day?" He offers the solution as a question as the sound of his footfalls follow Jack's retreating figure.
