Real- A Katniss and Peeta fanfic

Chapter ~19~

Katniss POV
I am due to give birth any day now. I look like I am about to pop and I feel like it too. Peeta is staying home with me so Nick and Sky are managing the bakery. He barely leaves my side and even though I know he's just worried and excited it's getting on my nerves. When he asks me for the third time "Do you feel anything different Katniss?", I snap "NO PEETA I DO NOT." He looks hurts and says "I'm sorry darling I just want to make sure that you're okay." I sigh and squeeze his hand. I say "I know you are. I'm just grumpy the baby kept me up all last night. It wouldn't stop kicking." Peeta starts talking to my stomach again. He says "Hey there you silly little girl! You need to let your mother sleep! Otherwise she gets very cranky!" I laugh and and say "You're a good ball!" He smiles and says "I'm your good ball!" I grin as he leans down and kisses me. Just as his lips meet mine I feel a ripping sensation and then wetness starts leaking out of me. I sit up so fast I run my face into Peeta's. I shout "PEETA! OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?"

He tries to remain calm as he says "Kat, honey, I think your water broke. We have to get you to the hospital right now." I start sobbing and say "Peeta! I'm not ready make it stop!" He picks me up bridle style and says "Shh You're going to do great." He starts walking and I realize he's planning on carrying me to the hospital. I say "Peeta you cannot carry me to the hospital I am much to heavy!" He says "Katniss I'll be fine. You're the one going into labor." I am terrified. We arrive at the hospital soon and as soon as we are in the door Peeta shouts "MY WIFE IS GOING INTO LABOR I NEED A DOCTOR, NOW!" A team of nurses rush over with a bed and Peeta sets me down. They start running me down the hallway. Peeta holds my hand and runs beside me the whole way. We finally get to a room and I see Dr. Jackson. She smiles and says "You're going to do great Katniss." Right then I feel the ripping sensation again and I scream. It is horribly painful. The next four hours are hideous and grueling. Dr. Jackson tells me to push once again and I do.

They're are tears streaming down my face as I push harder and harder. I feel that the baby is almost out. Dr. Jackson shouts "One more push Katniss!" I do and with one final grunt the baby comes out. Peeta who has been by my side the whole time, even when I was shouting some very mean things at him, says "You did it Kat!" Tears are falling out of his eyes and he has an enormous smile on his face. Dr. Jackson says "Would you like to cut the chord Peeta?" He nods and then cuts the umbilical chord with a pair of shiny scissors. Once that's done they wash the baby off. They bring her over to me, wrapped in an orange blanket. When Dr. Jackson hands her to me I know that ,even though I wasn't sure I wanted to have a kid, I love her an amazing amount. I hold her close to my chest as I cry our of happiness now. Peeta leans in close to me and kisses my cheek. He gently runs his finger over the baby's face. Her tiny little hand wraps around his finger.

Peeta says "We made that, Katniss!" I smile widely and say "I love you." He lightly kisses me and says "I love you too so so much. What are we going to name her?" I think to myself and whisper "How about Willow?" Peeta nods and says "It's perfect." A few hours later after they make sure Willow is healthy they let us go home. I sit in a wheel chair with the baby in my arms as Peeta pushes me all the way home. Peeta called everybody and told them that I had given birth, so when we get there they are all standing outside waiting. My mom runs up to us and says "Oh my God Katniss! What's my grand daughter's name?" I smile and say "Willow." Effie cries "Oh that's so beautiful, oh she's perfect!" Haymitch has a tear running out of his eye as he hugs me and whispers "Good job sweat heart" in my ear. Sky comes over and says "She is adorable Katniss! You did amazing!" I smile and say "I'm glad you like her because she's you're little sister." Sky smiles and starts crying. Nick smiles and says "Wow."

Annie chuckles and says "I remember when you were that size Nick!" I chuckle and say "Where are Gale and Johanna?" Haymitch replies "She went into labor right after they got over here. She was shouting profanities the whole way to the hospital." I say "Does anyone know how she's doing? This child birth stuff is HARD." Peeta says "Gale called and said that she just have birth. They named their son Cinder." I smile and say "I'm going to go inside and call Jo." Peeta takes the baby out of my arms and I shakily stand up. I hold on to my mom's arm as I waddle inside. I dial Johanna's cell phone number and wait for her to pick up. When she does she says "Giving birth fucking sucks but I love this little guy." I laugh and say "I know! He must have wanted out of you!" She laughs and says "Yeah! He was two and a half weeks early. They said he is healthy though." I ask her "When are you coming home?" She says "Gale is checking us out now. Then he's gonna wheel me down to your house." I smile and say "Cool see ya soon"

I get off the phone and my mom says "How are you doing honey?" I shrug and say "I'm sore. But it is so worth it." She smiles and says "I'm so happy that Peeta helped you get over your fear of having a child. You'll be a great mom." I smile and then go back outside. Peeta wraps his arms around me and kisses my cheek. I sit down in my wheelchair and see that Haymitch is holding Willow. Him and Effie are both crying. He hands the baby back to me and Peeta says "We need a family picture!" Sky runs in and gets the camera. She takes a picture of just me, Peeta, and Willow first. Then my mom gets in with us. We get pictures with everyone and once we are done I see Gale pushing Johanna in her wheelchair. Once Johanna is beside me she says "Holy Hell who knew that would suck so much?!?" I laugh and say "Yeah."

She wants to see Willow so I take Cinder and hand her Willow. Cinder has her black hair and bright green eyes. He is chubby and adorable. Gale is holding Willow now. He slightly smiles and then says to Peeta "She has your eyes." I smile and look at Peeta who looks so happy and proud. I hand him Cinder and he says "He's adorable." He hands him back to Johanna and Gale walks over to me. He hands Willow to me and says "She's beautiful Catnip." I smile and say "Very." I am exhausted so I say goodnight to everyone and then Peeta and I head inside. He helps me up the stairs and then we go to our bedroom. Willow's crib is in here for now. She starts crying and Peeta says "She's probably hungry, dear." I slip one of my breasts out of my night gown and bring Willow's mouth to my nipple. She immediately starts sucking. She eventually pulls back and seems to be done. Peeta has been watching me with loving eyes the whole time. I grin at him and say "Would you like to try some?" He says "What?" I chuckle and say "The milk." He says "Will there be enough for the baby?" I chuckle and say "There'll be plenty." He comes over and lowers his mouth to my nipple. He sucks and I moan out. He backs away and says "It's good." I say "God I wish I wasn't so sore I want you so badly." He grins at me and says "As soon as you feel up to it just tell me." I hand Willow to Peeta and then lay down. I immediately fall asleep.
