Chapter ~20~

Katniss POV
I wake up to Peeta gently kissing my cheek. When he sees my eyes flutter open a smile instantly lights up his face. He whispers "Sorry to wake you darling, but Willow's hungry. I have some breakfast for you downstairs." I sit up and stretch. I stand up and then take my beautiful daughter from Peeta's arms. She is three weeks old today.

I go downstairs with Peeta and sit at the table. Effie and Haymitch are there, already eating the pancakes Peeta made us. Effie grins and says "Oh she is just so, so precious Katniss!" I grin and then let her start drinking my milk. Haymitch looks a tad embarrassed but Effie is fascinated by the whole process. Once she is done Peeta takes her from me and I pull my shirt back up over my breast. I instantly start stuffing my face full of pancakes. I make a loud noise of pleasure as their delicious flavor meets my tongue. Peeta chuckles at me and says "You must have been pretty hungry." I nod and say "Being a mother is exhausting but well worth it." Peeta grins at me and I smile back at him. Sky emerges from her room now, already dressed and ready. She says "I'm going to go see Nick! I'll be back later to help baby sit." What? Why would she have to babysit? She raises her hand up to her mouth and her eyes become wide. She says "Oh crap I'm so sorry Peeta I forgot that Katniss didn't know!" I look between them, confused, and say "What's going on guys?" Peeta blushes and smiles sweetly. He says "Effie, Sky, and Annie are going to watch little Willow for us so we can have a night to ourself. It was going to be a surprise but that's okay. I made reservations at a nice little place for seven o'clock tonight. I wanted to give you a little break, you are being such a great mother but you also need a little bit of time for yourself. I love you." Tears come to my eyes as I say "You are too sweet." I walk over to him and kiss him gently. He grins and then I take Willow back. I love having her close to me.

The day passed quickly and soon I'm getting ready for my date with Peeta. Let me just tell you, after a baby your old dresses don't fit too well. After I finally get myself into a dress I put on a little bit of natural make up and leave my hair down in its natural waves. I hear the bathroom door open and Peeta appears. He smiles at me and says "You ready?" I nod and say "Yeah, I can't wait!" Peeta chuckles and says "You are so gorgeous." I frown and say "I'm fat." Now Peeta's smile disappears. He wraps an arm around me and says "Katniss, you are perfect. So perfect. You had a baby, our baby. So maybe your body isn't exactly the same as it was before but having Willow is well worth it. And you still are not fat." I hug him and say "Oh God, thank you Peeta. I love you." He pulls my body to his and says "I love you too. Let's go."

We walk to the restaurant hand in hand. As we walk I ask "Peeta, do you think Willow will be okay?" Before we left we took her to Annie's house where her, Sky, and Effie were going to watch her. Peeta squeezes my hand and says "She is in great care. She'll be fine Kat." I say "I know. I guess I'm just a little over protective after you know, everything." Peeta gently kisses my cheek before saying "You have every right to be." We are at the restaurant by then so we head in. Once we get through the door I instantly recognize that no one else in there. There are candles and wildflowers everywhere. A sweet, romantic song is playing. Peeta wraps his arm around me and leads me into the restaurant. He takes me to a booth that has a bouquet of evening primroses on it. There are candles all around the vase and it is beautiful. My eyes widen. I say "Peeta!" He chuckles and says "Only the best for you dear." We sit down in the booth and a goofy smile spreads over my mouth. Peeta takes my hand in his and rubs circles over my knuckles. A waiter quickly brings out two plates. There is some delicious kind of bird in a creamy sauce with minced dried apricots on top. As I dig into mine I say "Peeta this is so amazing. Everything." He grins and says "I'm happy that you like it." Once we are both done with our entrees the waiter brings out two deserts.

They are delicious, so I know Peeta must have baked them. He also must have made the food because it was spectacular. Once we are done with that Peeta comes around and gets in my side of the booth with me. He puts his arm around me and I snuggle against him, nuzzling my face in his neck. He strokes my hair as he asks, "So, how did you like it?" I smile and say "It was great. Very relaxing." I can hear the smile in his voice as he says "I'm glad. It was a lot of work but so worth it."
