Chapter 2: The Wilderness

I look around, but can't see or hear anything. I sigh with relief. Over the past three days, I have seen over and over again the furious face of the leader of the Forgotten Swords. It has haunted me.

As I find a clearing, I stop running for a bit. My muscles are stiff and I'm panting; the past few days were rough on my tired and tense body. I start runnign again, still alert to any noise that's made. Tough luck; I'm in a busy forest, with squirrels and birds, and everything.

Finally, I get out of the forest and onto a plain. The Plains of Koroth. A giant statue looms over me, one of a horse being held down by five men. This should be it! I run towards it, and search for the hidden entrance, and find it after a few seconds.

Inside, I find the place where Isaline fought Zuorsara, and tried to prevent the rise of the Soulless Ausar, dying by his hand right after the fight. I enter, and find a little note on the floor next to an open treasure chest. "You will never find this... Ausar"

I gulp. The fact that it's signed by Ausar means he must have moved it somewhere. But where? The total sum stockpiled in there is probably enough to pay for the Infinity Weapons- all of them- three times over! Where could he hide that?

I sigh in frustration, and then walk out, only to find a different chest here. This time, it contains a sword and a shield. The shield is the Vile Shield. Ausar wants to taunt me with a fake, huh? Good for him. He's giving me a free shield that's better than my current one! This makes me wonder whether he's smart or dumb.

The sword is the Ruin sword, the one that Isa used. Used. I walk out of the statue, and drop Ruin. It isn't as good as my current sword, the one that I switched at the armoury as I joined the Forgotten Swords.

I keep walking, and find a marauding Marrow Fiend. The Titan spots me, but I'm already slicing at its chest by the time it gets into the first Aegis form. Stupid daeril. It doesn't even know that most people don't know the Aegis Forms, especially since it takes time to get ready. I kill it, and shake my head mockingly as it lies on the ground before me, moaning.

Then, I notice a village. Or it might be a cottage. I head towards it, wondering whether this'll be a trap, or if it'll be a good choice. As I reach it, I pause at the door. Should I knock? I do. Slowly, the door creaks open. I see a glint inside.
