"GrraaAAH!" I yell, pouring all my energy into repelling the sword blocking my own. Terrovax grunts, pushing even harder, easily matching my power. I bellow even louder, but the Deathless doesn't give up. Neither do I, for that matter.
Our sword still locked in place, we continue our struggle to overpower the enemy. However, Terrovax is stronger than me; he's pushing my blade back, saying, "Inferior being! Did you seriously hope to defeat me, a Deathless?"
"Nope!" I exclaim as I duck under his swing, all the while letting my sword drop low. Then, I attack from the bottom, slicing upwards. I continue my brutal assault without any blocks from the Deathless until he screams in fury and pain. Then, he falls to the ground, dead. I gasp, panting and sweating. Relief floods through me, like a wave soaking my spirit.
Hell take me... I defeated a Deathless! I think joyfully. This has never been done before! Jubilant, I walk away from the Seccian Desert, only to find an MX-Scorian that has also kept serving its lord, attack me. It wields a long staff with a blade at the end.
It cuts through my defences three times; I'm too distracted by my previous victory. However, I manage to defeat it before I die. "Phew..." I sigh. Finally, I leave the desert, and start thinking about other places that could hold the treasure. Maybe the remains of the Hideout?
Or... I have no idea. However, I pull out the note from Ausar that says "I T W's C". What could it mean? I've gotta think outside the box now. Ausar is cunning and powerful. How do I outsmart him? Find out what this code means, then head over to that place. Wait. I. An I. That could stand for "in".
The T could also be "the". But what's the W's? Or the C? So "In the W's C". That's what I've figured out. Now what word could start with W? I look back to the storage, a building that could use some fixing. Construction.
(By the way, if you haven't read the first book you're not gonna understand anything. So go read that first one.)
That's it! Worker! "In the Worker's C"! I've almost got the whole code! But... What could C stand for? I see something on the ground, half buried in sand. Raising an eybrow, I keep my distance, then tap on it. A deadmind. Light envelopes me and the machine, and suddenly I'm at the Hideout. That thing must have been Siris and Isa's way of transportation.
There's a little boat on the dock, but no one around. Where has Castrair/Ausar/Siris gone? Nevertheless, I step on the boat, and it leaves without any effort on my part. Probably a chain leading it somewhere.
As I aprroach a town surrounded by mountains on which there is a castle, I remember the note, and put castle down for the C. "In the Worker's castle," I say aloud. The castle that's up on the mountain in front of me.
--------------5 hours later-------------
I'm here. At the castle. And there's Ausar, standing before me. "Hello, mortal. I didn't think you'd be able to solve the riddle I gave you. It was simple, but then, you're simpler."
"It was too easy. Got it two minutes after I seriously thought about it."
"I don't have the treasure here, though. Where could it be?" he asks in a mocking tone.
"I'm going to make you scream all about it in a few minutes."
"Getting overconfident just because you defeated Terrovax? The smelly bastard always was a nuisance."
"I can agree with you on that, he is smelly," I reply. Then the fight commences.
