I'm trapped. This is probably the worst thing that could happen, especially as all the bodies have re-animated. And they look powerful. As well as bloodthirsty. "I'm not gonna die here!" I cry, drawing my sword and shield, painfully aware of how outmatched I am. The bodies screech, and their rings flash. Swords and shields appear, and I gulp down my fear.
"Die, you bastards!" I yell, and charge. One body flings itself at me as well, but I dodge, and slice its neck. One down, but just moving at that speed was too much effort; I can't keep that up much longer. I need to end this now. But how?
Again, I attack, but my swing is blocked by a body, and I just realise that this body is actually the same as Ausar's. I won't finish this. I can't. They're too strong, but I can at least take one down. And then I can die in peace.
No. I won't die, at least not here. Not until I've spent every last coin of Ausar's treasure. I cut through the chest of one, and another blocks my second strike, then counter attacks. I dodge, then block, and slice, but miss. I chop again, but hit another enemy that had rushed ahead recklessly. I block another strike from the first, and then duck under another attack. This one was too close.
I slice horizontally. then upwards, taking care of that copy. Then, I turn, and feel a blade nick my side. "Ouch! Stop it!" I cry instinctively, used to the bullying of other members of the Swords of the Forgotten. Then, I kill the next, and turn again, ready to fight another, but I blink in surprise. There are only six left. It seems I had counted too many enemies. Suddenly, I lash out, killing another, then duck, block and counter attack, missing by millimeters.
My sword comes back, but I'm too slow to avoid the strike of the body, and it cuts my arm. Just a nick. The copy had missed. I grunt, and strike again, killing it, and turn to the next one, panting. "Die," I say, and block with my shield, just as I stab, killing one, and blocking another. I parry, and jump back, barely escaping the blade seeking my heart. However, I then jump sideways and back, cutting through the middle of the copy, and landing a meter or so behind the body before it falls.
Then, I turn, and kill the last one before it moves. Panting, I ready myself for the final confrontation. Then I frown. Upon closer inspection, this one's blade is different. It has a cross engraved on the blade, and the handle is made of something like... skin? Skin cut so finely it could be cord.
The guard is made of bone, and there is a skull in the center of it. All of a sudden, I can't see the blade anymore, as it's flying towards me at top speed. I dodge, barely, and strike back, nicking the copy. I pant, and the copy attacks, but I defend myself again. As it leaps back again, I feel my sweat falling down my face in droves.
"Damn it. I can't beat this one," I mutter to myself. Suddenly, I charge, and the battle begins for real. Our blades clash, and make sparks, but I dodge all of his strikes. He parries mine. Finally, I manage to get through, killing the copy brutally. I did it! Finally!
