I was working on my homework for school, during my break. These were the only times that I really had a chance to do any school work. Something that Roy didn't have to worry about because after high school he had no interest in continuing his education. I on the other had wanted to continue, and now I found myself in Starling City Community College. Which I definitely could not afford.
The door to the backroom opened, and Roy walked in with a bored look on his face. He collapsed on the couch I was sitting on, placing his head on my lap.
"Ouch." He complained as he lifted his a little to remove the notebook that was on my lap tossing it on the floor.
"Roy!" I exclaimed as my notebook landed with a thud on the other the side of the room. The pages where now bent in a way that I knew would not be fixed.
"Sorry." He muttered as he adjusted myself on my lap. "I meant to lightly toss it on the floor. I guess I'm just too strong."
I rolled my eyes, deciding on not wanting to argue with him about my discarded notebook. "Are you not supposed to be taking care of the garage?"
"I'll be able to hear if anyone comes in from back here. Don't worry." He tried to assure me as he took my hand and began to play with the bracelet around my wrist. "So...have you heard back about the scholarship yet?"
He knew I was extremely nervous about not hearing anything back yet. I have been all week. And at this point I began to lose hope that I got it at all. "No. And I don't think I will."
"They would be stupid not to give it to you." Roy began to say, and although his belief in be was comforting. It was also incredibly biased. Of course Roy thought all these amazing thing about me...he was Roy. Just like how I saw all these amazing things about him. "You're too good for The Glades."
"So are you." I immediately countered.
"I was born here."
"So?" I asked, knowing how Roy had almost given up on getting out of this part of the city. "I was born in a mountain side and trained to be a killer. Don't tell that where you're born decides who you are."
Roy smiled up at me, and I already knew he was about to say something stupid. "You are so wise for your young years."

Roy left the shop early to go buy use dinner for the night, meaning I was the one who had to close up the shop. Normally, a girl would be crazy to be walking around the streets of the Glades on her own. It was too dangerous. Roy of course was aware of this, but he also knew that I was able to protect myself. Which was why he accepted to go early, but also because he said he was starving.
The dangers of being a woman alone at night in this part of the city was the reason I was so shocked to see a woman walk into the shop second before I was about to bring down the garage door.
Similar to yesterday, it was obvious that this woman did not belong here. Dressed in her designer clothing and expensive jewel it would be hard to imagine her in any other place but a mansion.
"Hello." She said quietly as she looked around the shop with a mild look of disgust. "Who works here?"
"I do." I replied, and she looked at me in complete astonishment. "How can I help you?"
The woman continued to study me with mild concern. "A young lady like you shouldn't be in a place like this."
"I could say the same about you." I replied, as I waited to see what she needed. "So...how can I help you?"
