Ozpin: Another world?

Me: Yes! I've never heard of the academy I'm in, the country I'm in, the continent, even the world! I've been studying medicine in a place called Fennmont!

Ozpin: Well, in all my years, I've never heard of Fennmont, nor a medical school named Fennmont.

He leans forward.

Ozpin: Is there anything that might have transported you here?

I recount the events of the day thus far.

Ozpin: I see. Well, I believe, with some testing, we can offer you a scholarship. Do you have any funds, money?

I sighed and pulled out my pouch. It had a paltry few thousand gald.

Ozpin: Mr. Mathis, you are aware that this is gold, are you not?

Me: I know, is it valuable?

Ozpin: Very. I wouldn't be surprised if this fetched a few million lien.

I tilt my head.

Me: Lien?

Ozpin: It's our currency. I'll see to the selling of this, and put the money in an account. For now, we'll evaluate your medical skills, and then enroll you here. I must ask you though, would you also like to begin combat classes and huntsman training?

Me: What is that?

He explains the grimm and huntsmen to me.

Me: I'm sorry, but I'm kind of a pacifist. These gauntlets are kind of just for self-defence.

Ozpin: Well, you could specialize in medicine.

Me: Oh. Well sure, then.

My sleeping arrangements were made, and I went off, to my new life.

I walked to the dorm I was assigned to and knocked on the door.

Yang, sporting pajamas this time, opened the door.

Yang: Oh. You're our new roommate. Welcome to the RWBY dorm. I'm Yang.

She points to herself.

Yang: My sister Ruby.

She steps back and points to the girl with the red-tipped hair.

Ruby: Hi!

She points to the girl that Ruby had called Weiss.

Yang: That's Weiss.

Weiss: Oh. Hello again.

Yang: And the silent bookworm up there is Blake.

Blake simply looks up from her book, and then looks back down to her story.

I saw her bow twitch. I kind of wonder if she was like that other girl from earlier.

Me: So, you were already told?

Yang: Yeah. Ozpin called us on our scrolls.

I tilt my head.

Yang: Scrolls? Y'know, like this?

She pulls out a strange device.

Yang: Well, I'll teach you tomorrow. For now, you can sleep on that cot.

Said cot is in the corner, with a simple pillow and black blanket.

For the rest of the night, I read my medical journal, which I had taken with me.

And felt pangs of homesickness in my heart.
