Y/N! Wake up, slugabed!
My eyes snapped open.
I was on my back. Tall grass grew around me, blocking my view of the side of my head.
I sat up. I was in a lush green meadow, with colorful flowers sprouting up above the grass.
Some herbs were strewn about the outside, bordering the surrounding woods.
C'mon! This way!
I didn't recognize the voice. It seemed to be coming from the woods. I ran in its general direction.
I passed by weirdly colored trees. Yellow. White. Red. Black.
I reached a cave.
Come on in! We have to TALK!
A dark figure erupts from the mouth of the cave. I try to respond, but no sound comes out.
By the way, you can't talk. Don't know if you tried yet, but you can't. But regardless, I want to talk.
It leans against a rock.
I have a proposition. You show great promise. I know who you are, where you came from, and how to get you back.
My eyes widen in shock. How could she know all this? How did she find out?
I'm more than willing to send you home if you join me in achieving my goal. My inferiors will be coming into contact with you, so this is more of a . . . notice. Begin thinking about it. And something else to consider-
The black tree I had passed began to shake. The bark looked like it was about to spit something out.
Blake stumbled out of the tree.
Watch closely, boy.
A dark spear ran through her chest, pinning her to the bark. She cried out in pain, reaching for me, her expression overcome with agony.
I tried to run to her, but I couldn't. Whether it was fear or something restricting my movement. I couldn't even reach my arm out.
I'll be waiting for your decision.
You can't begin to know what I'm capable of.
Don't defy me.
I shot straight up, breathing heavily. My heart was racing.
I steadied my breathing. Blake was fine. She was safe.
Yang: Bad dream, huh?
I jump a bit.
Yang: Wow. You're wound up. Maybe you should take the day off. You can watch our fights on your scroll.
Ah, right. The Vytal Festival.
Me: What does anyone get out of that, anyway?
Yang: Prestige. Performing well can net your team some requests for high-paying jobs.
Me: Before you go . . .
I toss her some gels.
Me: Stay safe.
Ruby: Always are.
Blake: Take it easy.
They walked out. I stayed in bed for a while.
I got my apothecary supplies out- a simple set of beakers, scales, heating equipment and, of course, ingredients.
I got my belladonna, mixing it in with my Miracle Gels. I should probably patent this.
It didn't explode or change color, so I counted it as a success.
I laid out some Dust crystals in front of me. I sat in silence for a while, thinking about new applications. I snap them all into halves.
I crush electricity dust in my left hand. I close my hand into a fist, and focused on it. The electricity crackles faster, becoming more luminescent. I pour more energy into it, as I would for Sun Spark.
A light flashes, illuminating the room. My fist is bathed in soft light.
I crush a gravity dust crystal in my right hand. I focus on the energy. The shadowy aura darkens, and becomes dark.
I clap my hands, like I was praying.
The dark and light energy flowed between my hands, mixing, becoming fluid. I focus all my aura into my hands, mixing it with the dual energies, which transmutes it into more light and dark energy. I release my focus, the energy flowing throughout my body. I threw open the window, throwing both palms in front of me. A powerful spiral beam of black shadow and white light springs forth.
So that's something I can do now.
I then got an idea.
I grabbed some Team RWBY Pennants (patent pending) and ran to catch a bullhead to the flying stadium. I arrived just in time to get a front-row seat and catch RWBY's match.
I cheered loud, waving my pennants. I don't think they heard me.
When they won, I went down to the fairgrounds, finding them at a noodle stand, talking with JNPR. I sit down next to Blake.
Me: One bowl of noodles, please.
I hand the old man my card, and soon it is back in my hand and a giant bowl of noodles sits in front of me.
Nora: Oh, hey Y/N!
Me: How're the gels?
Yang: Haven't taken them yet.
Ren: You make medicine?
Me: Yeah. It's kind of a speciality that I learned how to do.
Weiss: They're incredibly potent. One dose can restore over half of one's aura.
Me: I have a spare pouch. Would you guys like some?
Juane: Sure! Don't think we're allowed to take some medicine mid-fight, though.
RWBY simultaneously swallows their gels. Their respective aura colors flare up around them.
We all go back to eating.
~In a mysterious dorm~
A grey-haired boy does sit-ups. A green-haired girl sits near the window.
A black-haired girl sits on the bed, absentmindedly checking her scroll. A new message blips up.
Black: Mercury, Emerald. We have an additional target.
She turns her scroll so that the other two can see it.
Black: And it seems that we have to do . . . some studying.
