"Maybe we'll run into them." AJ said, sitting on a rock.
"Maybe. We still need to move on. Be diligent." Clementine responded, sitting next to him.
"We should try to find a farmhouse out here." I suggested.Even though I hate farmhouses, I still think it's our best bet.
When I was younger, my group stayed with a family that owned a dairy.
They were the friendliest people of the south we've ever met. They cooked delicious food, had warm beds and even had game nights with us to distract us from the world.
You would think they had no bad bone in their bodies.Except they did, and they knew how to hide it, well.
One time, I was drawing a picture of a beautiful pinetree I had in my backyard before the apocalypse happened.
Timothy, the old man of the house stopped to view it.
He told me a magnificent story about when he used to go backpacking in the mountains of Colorado.
I was interested and listened to every word of his story. But what he said after it still shakes me to this day, and I don't have the balls to repeat what he said to me.
Or what he did to me.
So, that's why I hate farmhouses and the people who owned them.
There are too many bad memories associated with one."Yeah, I agree. Sophia and AJ look tired and I am cramping on my feet." agreed Clem.
After hours of walking, we found one. It looked a little run down, but it was still in good condition.
"Grab your gun." I alerted Clem, grabbing mine.
We surrounded the front door, trying to listen for anybody or anything.
After we heard nothing but silence we entered the house and settled for the night. We put AJ and Sophia to bed.
It was just me and Clem."Weird, farmhouses remind me of grade school."
"That must seem like a really long time ago."
"Yeah, let's talk about something else."
"Your hair is getting pretty long, Clem."
"Oh god, I need a haircut, don't I?"
"What? No, I like it long."
"Well, I had to get it cut when I was little because of..."
Her voice trailed off for a minute."I'm gonna go pee due to boredom."
she said, getting up from the dusty couch and leaving out the front door.
I furrowed my brows and followed her."Clem?" I whisper, rubbing my arms and looking for her on the porch.
"(Y/n), I'm sorry for running out on you like that." Clem came around the side of the house and wrapped her arms around mine.
"It's okay, Clem."
"Just the hair thing reminded me of a man that used to watch over me at the start of the apocalypse."
"Oh, I'm sorry if I brought up a bad memory."
"None were bad. They're all good.
I just miss him."
"I'm sorry, Clem."
"It's okay. It happens. Everybody dies."
She leaned in and gently kissed me.
I kissed back and hugged her tighter. That's when she picked me up, took me inside and sat me on the table.
She pushed me down and slowly took off her jacket until we heard Sophia ask us what we were doing."Sophia, what are you doing up?"
I ask quickly getting up.
"Well, AJ and I were playing hide and seek and we saw a man walking around the house outside so I came down to tell you guys."Clementine and I looked at each other, worried.
"Go hide." I said.
She nodded and ran upstairs.
I grabbed my gun and pulled Clementine upstairs, finding a spot to hide in.This was not how I wanted my night to go.
