Clementine laid me down on the couch and sat at my feet.
"(Y/n)? Can you please answer me?"
I turn on my side and blankly stare at the wall in front of us.
"We finally got her on our side..." was all that came out.
"This might sound inconsiderate, but, you need to move on. You need to survive for Malinda. She would want you to do that for her.  I don't want to lose you somehow."
I blinked and nodded.
"...I know..."
I sat up, still looking at the ground.
"I knew this was going to happen in some way. Everyone rises, then after some time, they fall. It happens all the time."
I look Clementine in her gorgeous eyes. The color of a nice pine tree. Sending me deep into a spiral of emotions. Her expression soothes me, but I still ache deep inside for the loss of my sister. I stare deeper into her windows of her soul, playing a scenario in my head of me losing her to a walker, too. Oh, how I hope that doesn't happen. I've lost so much already, I don't want to lose more.

I let loose of a couple of tears and hug her around the neck.
"I love you, Clementine. I don't want to lose you either."
She squeezed me tightly and nuzzled her nose into my neck.
"I love you too, (Y/n)."
She pulls away and smiles at me.
A genuine smile.
She grabs my cheeks and kisses me.
I kiss her back, wrapping my arms around her shoulders.
I heard AJ and Sophia gag in the background, giggling.
"Ewww, kissing!" Sophia squealed to AJ.

Clementine and I pull away.
"Let's get out of here." she says.
"Good idea!" I respond with a giggle.

As we left the district building, I start to remember something that we have put off.
"We need to find the others." I say.
"Do you still have the walkie-talkie?"
I nod and pull it out, only to discover it's been destroyed.
"I don't think we can fix this." I say, tearing up.
"Do you remember where they said they were?" Clem inquired.
I shook my head, about to cry.
I stopped sobbing after a minute and lift my head up, nodding slightly with a serious look.
"New rule. We can't wait for anyone. We keep moving forward. This is the zombie apocalypse, after all."
Clementine nodded.
"We need to leave this fort."

And so we did leave the fort without the rest of our friends.

We learned a new survival lesson; move on or you die.

Survival of the fittest.

Every man for themselves.

Don't let anyone drag you down.
