Chapter 18-

<Joey's POV>

I swam to the ocean floor, the oxygen going to my brain and vital organs beginning to run out.

I smiled as the the corners of my vision started to blur.

I closed my eyes, letting the unconciousness take over.

Or was it death?

<Shane's POV>

I held Joey's lifeless body in my arms and cried.

And cried some more.

I kept crying until my eyes felt dry and raw.

Luke ended the phone call with 911 and ran over to me, checking Joey's wrist and chest for a pulse.

But he found nothing.

Just as I had.

And just like the paramedics will when they get here.

"He's gone." I said out loud, but I was really accepting the reality.

But maybe it's not reality.

Maybe this is all a dream.

I closed my eyes and opened them, but despite all efforts Joey was still lying on the ground in front of me.

Lifeless.

Dead.

Gone.

Tears that I didn't know I had started streaming down my cheeks, the droplets landing on Joey's pale nose.

I grabbed his hand and tightly squeezed it as sirens appeared in the distance.

"Wake up Joey. Please." I pleaded.

But as I expected, it was no use.

I stood up and stepped away from Joey, as the paramedics ran over.

One of them felt his wrist and gasped when he found no pulse.

The other guy ran over with those shocker things, getting down on Joey's level.

Luke rubbed my back soothingly as we watched them try to revive Joey.

"Shock to three hundred!" The second guy shouted, shocking Joey just above his heart.

Nothing.

"Shock to three fifty!"

I knew enough from doctor shows that that's the highest they shock people before pronouncing them dead.

If Joey dies...

I don't how I'll go on anymore.

I just love Joey so much that-

"He has a pulse!" The first paramedic yelled to us.

I immediately burst into tears, even though I never really stopped crying in the first place.

Luke started crying too, and he gave me a comforting hug, but at this point theres only one person that I want to hug, and kiss, and love.

And that person is Joey.

The paramedics began loading Joey into the ambulance, Luke and I following right behind them.

Once inside the ambulance, I grasped Joey's hand.

I would've never let go if that was possible.

Unfortunately, it wasn't.

When we got to the hospital a bunch of doctors came running towards us arguing about where to take Joey and how they were gonna fix him.
