Why, hello. My name is Hedwig Frost. I'm an owl, and I care a lot about my family. There was always a special connection I had with one of them though. He nor I realized how much I ACTUALLY cared for him...
I flew above the trees and waited for Avery. I mean, I knew he was a slow flyer, but did he really fly this slow?!
Just as I turned to see if he was coming, I heard a massive explosion. Color went through almost the entire forest. Luckily, for me, I was able to maintain my position as I blocked my face and rapidly flapped my wings. I hope Avery got out of there in time...
When the smoke cleared, I cough and land on the ground. There was hazardous pieces of what was left of the house everywhere. I picked up the one thing that held together; one of Star's favorite stuffed bears. I look up to see someone laying on the ground. Avery!
I rush over to him and hold his face. "Avery?" I say to him. No response. "Avery, wake up." Nothing. I get irritated and slap him. "Avery! Wake up, God damn it!" He groaned and slowly opened his eyes. "Wh...Wh-What happened?" he asked me. "That is what happened." I said as I point to my left. The base and first floor of our house was up in flames. There was no point in putting it out now. I look over at Avery, who had his mouth gaping at the fire.
"Lucas is gonna kill me..." he said softly. "Relax, bud." I said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "It was for the best. There was nothing you could do." Avery looks down at his hands and thanked me silently.
"So, which side are you on?" I ask. He looks up at me. "What do you mean?" he says. "Hall. Which side are you on? Do you like him or do you hate him?"
"Well...I guess I could tell you. I was gonna tell everyone before Star got captured."
"Tell everyone what?"
"Well...I...I.......I'm gay."
"....What?"
Avery rubbed the back of his neck nd looked away. "Yeah..." he said. "I...I'm gay...and that is...why I hate him."
"Why exactly do you hate him? Did you...tell him...?"
"Well, when I came out to him, he was...speechless. He...he seemed angry, and...he scolded me. He didn't accept me for who I was...and I hated him ever since..."
I was speechless. What else could I say? He cradled his knees and sat his head on them. I stood up, walked to his side, sat back down, and gave him a warm hug.
"I accept you for who you are, Avery. You and I have been together since that night, and I will always be by your side..."
Avery was silent. Then he said something that changed my life forever.
"Why did you help me escape that night?"
I looked into his eyes as I give him a gentle smile and explain. "Well, before we even met, I had a watchful eye on you. I saw every beating you took, every bolt of lightning that went through your body, and every maze and test you did. It killed me that you, a nice, sweet young lad like yourself would be treated that way.
"That night, I was sitting in my cell alone, when Hall came and unlocked my cage. He opened it and stepped out of the way. When I asked him what he was doing, he smiled and told me this was my chance. I took a step onto the ground, the first step out of the cell I had taken in forever. I hugged Hall and asked him if I could bring one other person with me...and that's when I came for you."
"You...you asked Hall if you could take me?"
I nod my head.
"I think I made the right choice..." I said to him. That's when I noticed we were close. A little too close. I noticed this and backed away. He blushed and I cleared my throat. "Uhm...sorry." I said to him. Then, I was tackled. I landed on my back as I saw Avery on top of me. "Why are you sorry?" he said seductively. I sat up, and when I did, something life changing happened.
It wasn't rough, like a make out sesh kiss. It was more of a love at first sight kiss, which pretty much explained us completely. I felt my soul completely change as I engaged in the kiss and held his face to mine. His wings were spread as he melted into the kiss.
Soon, Avery pulled away to catch some air. I sat back, supporting myself with my hands. Avery was red in the face and he looked down at his hands once again. I saw this and took them, startling him. He looked up at me and gave me a sad smile.
"What exactly were you trying to say?" I ask him. He smiles his wacky side smile and says, "Hedwig Frost, will you be my night vision?" I laugh at his corny joke and give him a hug. "Yes, Avery Crow." He smiled as he jumped up. "Well, let's get going, my night vision!" Avery exclaimed. I grin as I stand up and take his hand.
"Are you sure about this?" I ask him. "I mean, after what you told me, Hall-" "It doesn't matter. Besides, we have the Big Surprise. Don't worry about it. The sweet taste of revenge is at large!" He stomped towards me and I chuckled. I give him a hug and comfort him. He hugs me back just as tight. I rest my head on top of his head, and we stayed like that for a minute.
"Everything is gonna be alright." Avery said, spreading his wings. He stepped away from me and took off. I gaped at him, impressed with how fast he was flying. It wasn't as slow as he normally flies, but I was still able to catch up with him easily. When I did catch up to him, I grabbed his hand and flew faster. He was startled by the sudden change of speed, but then found it amusing as he held onto my hand tightly. I pulled him towards me, holding him close to my chest, as we soared through the sky, making our way to the Lab.
Together...
