What's up? I'm Avery Crow. I'm looked down upon because I am a crow, or a raven, they say. I really don't mind much. I still have my friends. Well, I have one of my friends...

Hedwig and I fell silent as we sat in the living room. We couldn't do anything. Literally. Star was kidnapped, Olivia and Lucas went to save her, and now...the house was completely different.

"Hey, bud..." Hedwig said. "Wanna...go for a fly?" I look over at him and glare. He chuckles and raises his hands up in innocence. "I'm just trying to take your mind off of things." he explained. "I know you miss Star, but trust me. She'll be home before you know it."

I slam my fist on the coffee table as I looked down and huffed. "This is fucking stupid!" I yelled. I looked up at my best friend. "Why on Earth do they get to go save her and we don't?!"

"You heard Luke, mate. You're a slow flyer and I am your babysitter. It's not like we can just all show up there and bomb the place."

That's when I got an idea. The best idea. Better than the time I built the iron we used, all out of wood and an iron plate I found outside...Okay, maybe this is better than that time. But this idea is gonna do twice the damage the iron did to our house.

Hedwig must have saw my sneaky look, because he crossed his arms and frowned. "What are you conjuring up this time, midget?" he asked me. I held up a finger and ran up to my bedroom. I ran past Star's stuffed animal collection as I dug through the bottom drawer of my dresser, which Olivia likes to call, "the black hole". I shuffled everything around, until I finally felt it.

My heart jumped as I pulled out a small rolled up piece of blue paper.  I jump up and run back to the living room. Hedwig sat quietly, sipping his ice tea and waiting for me. He looked at what I had and raised an eyebrow.

"What is that?" he asked me as I laid it flat on the table. "It's a blueprint, duh." I said sarcastically. "Well, I know that, but a blueprint for what, exactly?"

"A bomb."

"What?!"

"I made this blueprint and stashed it in case of an emergency. If my calculations are correct, this bomb should let out a big explosion, enough to blow up the White House!"

"What the hell are you doing with a nuclear bomb blueprint?!"

"I told you, I made it. And it's not nuclear. Just powerful."

Hedwig took a while before he could make up his mind. "Ugh, I guess you only live once." he said quietly. "Let's do it." I grin as I hand him the blueprints for the bomb. It wasn't supposed to be necessarily big, but it did have a pretty good demeanor. Hedwig looked at the blueprints with confusion.

"Do we have any of the parts to even make this?!" Hedwig said. "Well, of course!" I said, taking his arm. I led him up the stairs into my room. I opened my closet and crawled on my knees. I reached the far corner, where there is a secret compartment. In the secret compartment, I kept a box, filled with the materials we needed for the bomb. I came out of closet, and Hedwig grinned at me.

"Heh." Hedwig chuckled. You're not so bad for your age." I smile as I open the box and reveal the contents.

I put the wires together as I completed the bomb. It took me a while to do, but it would be worth it once we set it off at the Lab. I backed away and wiped my forehead as I looked at my work. Hedwig looked over my shoulder and grinned.

"Wow." he said. "Not bad, kid." I smile at him and pick up the bomb. "What's the name of this bomb?" he asked me. I looked at it and grinned. "Let's call it the Big Surprise." I reply. I set it carefully into a duffel bag, zipped it up, and threw it over my shoulder.

"Alright, let's go." I say, heading to the door. "Wait, where are you going?" Hedwig asked. I turned around and tried to find his eyes in between the splits of his hair, but found nothing. "You mean, where are we going?" I said back. "Why do you think we built this bomb?" "I thought it was gonna be a booby trap for-"

He was interrupted by a sudden crash through the window. He and I blocked the glass flying towards us as we got a clearer view of what - or who - smashed our window.

Oh, no.

A large figure stood in front of us. He breathed heavily as he wiped the blood coming from his nose onto his sleeve as he grinned evilly at us. That is Axel. Member of The Hawking.

Hedwig grabbed my arm and dragged me up the stairs. We ran into my bedroom, and Hedwig slammed and locked the door. I heard the front door kick open. Footsteps could be heard outside the door, and the knob fidgeted. A hand banged on the door not a second later. "OPEN THIS FUCKING DOOR!" a voice said on the other side.

I watched as Hedwig ran to the window and unlocked it. Soon, I felt a gust of wind as Hedwig swung the window open. He turned towards me and motioned for me to come to him. "Come on, Avery!" he yelled.

That's when I got yet another idea. I went to my closet and pulled out another bomb I had made. It was slightly smaller, and it would do less damage. I brought it over to Hedwig as he shook his head.

"We don't have time to take anything else!" he tells me. "It's not for taking!" I reply. I pulled the activator out, and the bomb started ticking. I ran over to Hedwig, who was still at the window, and shoved him out. He landed safely and told me to come on. As I slung my leg out the window, the door bursts open, and The Hawking dashed towards me. I threw myself out the window, landing on the grass. I quickly got up and ran towards Hedwig, who was waiting for me near the tree. As soon as I reached him, he sighed and took off.

Oh, no. This was one of my weakest points. I couldn't fly very well, and I have no clue why. Ravens are supposed to be expert flyers and very lightweight. At least, that's what Hall told me...

I took a deep breath and took off. Damn, I was heavier than I thought. I flapped and flapped my giant black wings, until finally, I made it to the top of the trees. At least, I thought I did.

Before I knew it, I heard a piercing explosion, and I was flung into the air until I hit the hard ground and blacked out.
