"Where are you headed?" I asked Alex, closing my locker. She cocked her head to the side.

"What do you mean?" She asked, pulling her notebook out of her locker.

"Which way are you going to get home?"

"Oh," She said. "East. That one shitty neighbourhood on 104th?"

"Ah. I'm heading east too, to Ramos Westbrook." She nodded, and we started walking down the hallway. I stole a few glance at her, and noticed she was still anxiously tapping her fingers.

"Hey, can I give you my number?" She smiled at me, nodding. "Yeah! I'll give you mine as well." We stopped at a bench outside, and I ripped a piece of paper out of one of my notebooks.

"There you are," I handed it to her, smiling. She took it and ripped a corner off, handing it to me.

"That's my number." I put the paper into my back pocket, shrugging my bag back onto my shoulder. "Should we get going?" I questioned. "Yeah, sure." We started walking again, at a nice pace.

"So, how was your first day?" I asked her.

"Pretty good. What were you and your friends whispering about during lunch?" She shot back.

"Oh, uh- um..nothing. Nothing worth mentioning." I muttered. Laf had mentioned how Alex kept stealing glances at me, Herc joining in saying she was checking me out. I had told them I wasn't interested in her, but they were relentless.

"You sure?"

"Yeah. Changing subject- what did you think of ol' G.Wash?"

"He was a character. I like him though, better than Mr. Adams." She giggled. I felt myself blush at the sound, but I wasn't sure why. I like her, for sure, just not in that way. I wanted to hang out with her more, she seemed pretty cool. Maybe introduce her to Martha.

"Hey, do you wanna come over to my house?" I mentally slapped myself. Good job, asshat!

"If it isn't too much trouble. I mean, unless you don't want me to go and you were just trying to be nice!" She said.

"None at all. You can meet my little sister, Martha. You'll love her!"
