Jungkook was bewildered. It was understatement because seeing her after so many years being apart, when he had given up that tiny little hope of meeting her again, was utterly surprising.
Kim Yerim.
It was hard for him to control this particular girl's effect for his heart – who grew up so beautiful, he noticed – inside his life.
The first time he met her, Jungkook thought her as a spoilt brat kid who loves to disparage others. Well, keeping in mind at how hard Yeri was reacting after she saw him getting out from his dorm – because she thought it was all girl dorm and what the fuck he was doing there at midnight – it was normal if his impression of her wasn't all that good.
Though hard to admit, it gradually changed as the time goes by. She was fun and full of wit, not to mention a kind and caring person, somehow those traits had triggered Jungkook's adoration toward Yeri. Though their bad blood seemed hard to vanish, it didn't stop another growing feeling he felt inside.
But she was Kim Yerim. That charming girl probably had a platoon of guy friends. She was friendly, in fact too friendly for his liking. Jungkook couldn't sit well with the thought of possible threats from other guys if he wanted to pursue his feeling towards her. No matter how beautiful she was, even ignored the tingling feeling of the thought of having her as his girl, Jungkook chose to run.
When Woonwoo passed him an information about Chou Tzu-yu takes a liking on him – which he didn't know either how that even possible – Jungkook took that as an escape route from Kim Yerim.
Chou Tzu-yu was calmer and way more reserved than Kim Yerim. Not to mention her breathtaking visual and delicate manner. He thought, those traits were perfect for him.
He thought.
It was funny in the un-funniest way for Jungkook, at how his heart breaks a little when he witnessed the looks on Yeri's face at the sight of him and Tzu-yu. Jungkook indeed felt ridiculous, because when he should be happy with Tzu-yu, in the same time he couldn't.
Jungkook thought it was too late for him to step back. So, he continued, with hope that being with Tzu-yu will give his heart a wind of change. The determination had planted inside his head and not even Taehyung's confronting words back then was sufficient enough to change his decision.
At the end of the day, Jungkook got his wished. The wind of change he had hoped so badly was finally there, revamping his already messed-up feeling, into a messier one.
It came in a form of Yeri's dorm transferal and turned severer with Yeri's departure to London.
The news took him aback. But Jungkook could do nothing as that brat Kim Taehyung only told him when Yeri was probably already up there on the clouds to London. Taehyung was doing that on purpose. Jungkook knew it very well, as Taehyung had a satisfied smirk on his lips when he watched Jungkook and his little menboong at the information.
She was gone, with the so-fucking-called wind of change he had hoped for.
Once again, he should be happy, now that Yeri wouldn't be able to create a trouble for his feeling. But when Yeri had unknowingly took a big part of his heart with her to the other side of the world, even more with a slim chance to collect it back, Jungkook knew he couldn't.
And now when he finally has the chance he had wished since a long time ago, Jungkook's heart was having a little reboot.

Jungkook had expected everything from his transferal from one of the company's branch to the HQ office. He worked his ass off for this achievement so he was ready for new knowledges, new experiences, new friends and colleagues. But having Yeri, the girl he silently longed since college, as his office mate, his upper, was rather a shocking event and Jungkook wasn't ready for it.
Yeri looked fresh with her back-length black hair. Her body had shaped more into a feminine figure. Those pretty doe eyes and dazzling smile that had drawn him closer in the first place were still the same. Her baby fat cheeks was still there but lessen, making her look more mature yet still carried a cute college student look. Her sense of fashion was great and still lingering between high-end brands, from her Chanel bag to her Luis-Vuitton blouse. Jungkook swore to himself that even if Yeri wears the cheapest blouse on the messy stack of the sale clothes, she would still look pretty.
The thing that had warmed his heart about the new Yeri was, even though being an assistant manager exuded a professional charm during the meeting or discussion, she still as playful as college Yeri he knew to other people outside the meeting room.
But nonetheless, Jungkook felt like he was one of her exception.
She still gave the assistance he needed during work, yes, but given on his position as a junior assistant, mostly it delegated to PR junior assistant, Park Jimin. She was still talking and smiling to him, yes, but not the same one she gave to Dahyun, Jimin, Seulgi, and Jaehyun or to Sehun sunbae. Those people – the closest ones to Yeri, he found out– received a better version of Yeri's smile.
Jungkook was envious.
He even hadn't talk about how Yeri seemingly didn't acknowledge him as her college acquaitances at first. Not until one of his college friend, which happened to be their work mates, greeted both of Yeri and Jungkook during lunch time. Still with her usual blank and cold look, Yeri answered Dahyun's questioning glare with one simple sentence : nobody cared to ask before.
Jungkook had two possibilities in mind of what makes Yeri act a little bit cold towards him.
First, he was still new. So it would be natural for being awkward to each other. Second, she was still harboring a troubled feeling from the past and made her distancing herself from him.
Whatever the reason, Jungkook didn't like any of that. But he was praying so hard for the earlier to be her reason rather than the latter.
And the confusion he used to feel towards her was back, haunting his already peaceful mind. Even after all these years, the Kim Yerim effect he tasted now was still as visible as four years ago. Even after those plain and formal gesture he received from the girl, his eyes still looking for her first, whenever they were in the same room.
Jungkook was sure that his crush toward her is already over. But had to feel this exhilarating feeling once more, it clearly, definitely, undoubtedly, caught him off guard.
