[Camille.]

He was looking right into my eyes when he made his promise, making me feel like I was actually worth his help. His gaze was so intense that I found it difficult not to stare back, getting lost in those bright green eyes that reflected the dim light of the winter sun.

I noticed the seconds pass by and found like he had me in his trance long enough so I quickly snapped out of it. “You know, only friends are allowed to call me Cami,” I said sternly but with a soft smile on my face. But apparently Harry didn’t seem to understand that I was just making a joke and his sympathic smile fell off his face, replaced by a rather disappointed look.

“Oh sorry, I kind off had the feeling we were friends now.” he said, his voice slow and hesitant. I shoved his shoulder playfully and he looked at me, clearly confused.

“Of course we are, silly. I wouldn’t tell you all these personal things if you weren’t a friend.”

“Oh... good to hear that.” he said casually, trying to act cool about it but I caught the glimpse of insecurity he had shown for only a moment. It was kind off cute, knowing he too just wanted to be liked by people and was afraid for the slightest form of dislike towards him. But how could you not like him? I agreed with what Denise had said before, he was definitely charming but in the short time that I knew him I also found out he was much more than just that. In these few days he has already shown me he has a kind heart, wanting to help where he can. You rarely find people like that in this ignorant world.

We walked to my appartment in a comfortable silence and at the door of my building Harry said goodbye with the promise of letting me know how he would help me.

That evening I met up with Natalie to talk about the classes I had missed today and we both worked through it quite quickly, so we ended up just chatting until it was time for me to go since it was late already and I had to go to sleep so I wouldn’t sleep in again.

The next few days and during the weekend I didn’t hear much from Harry, which I didn’t really mind so I could focus on my school work. On Monday morning I made my way to Le Bouquet for my morning shift. I didn’t have classes until this afternoon. It was freezing outside because the sun hadn’t come up yet. It was only seven in the morning and I would help Denise today with cleaning and opening up the coffee shop at ten.

I used my key to open the back door that led to the kitchen and walked to the break room to put my stuff away. On the red velvet sofa I saw Denise drinking a cup of coffee in front of the fire.

“It was really cold when I arrived so I put the fire on.” she said as she heard me walking inside.

“No problem, the fire’s always nice. It makes it homy here.” I mused, taking off my coat and laying it on the second sofa along with my bag, intensly watching the flames sparkle.

“I know right!” she exclaimed and stood up saying she was just going to put her empty cup away and we’d get to work after.

We started tidying the front of the shop in silence, not really wanting to disturb the feeling of a nice quiet Monday morning, since those are generally very hectic.

“I actually wanted to talk to you about something.” Denise suddenly spoke up and I tilted my head.

“I don’t know if you noticed but the shop is doing surprisingly well lately and we need an extra hand because just the two of us won’t be able to do all the work anymore.”
