YO POV

It was for the sake of the situation, I tried to convince himself.

“It meant nothing.” I said to myself in the mirror. I reached my hand up and lightly touched my lips with my fingers. “Nothing.” I repeated. My phone began ringing, causing me to jump. I sighed deeply and answered.

“Hi, Ricky. I’m almost ready.” I said walking out of the bathroom and to the door were my shoes where. “I’ll be down in a second.”

“Okay. I’ll just be here waiting.” He said before hanging up. I could hear the smile in his voice. I sighed again as I put my shoes on and grabbed my keys before heading downstairs. Ricky was standing there, leaning against his car. I have to admit, he was dressed nicely.

“You ready?” I asked. Ricky nodded and smiled wide. He ran to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for me. “Thanks.” I said getting in.

The drive to the restaurant was short. Ricky talked most of the time. And it was mostly about himself. It was quite annoying. When we arrived the waitress took us to our table. We ordered and waited.

“So, have you ever been here before?” He asked. I shook my head.

    “I haven’t.” I answered. Ricky nodded.

“Maybe we could come here again.” He suggested. I nodded.

“Maybe. I’ve been really busy with school.” I said. I wasn’t really. I mean there was the exams, but they weren’t going to be that hard.

“Babe?” I heard a familiar voice say and then a hand on my back. When I looked up I saw Pha standing there smiling. His hand on my back rubbed up and down.

“Babe?” I heard Ricky ask. Oh my god. Is this how Pha plans on helping me? By pretending to be my boyfriend? Seriously? I wanted to get away from him, and now I was stuck playing boyfriend with him.

“Yeah. I’m Phana.” He said introducing himself to Ricky. “You must be the friend that my Yo was talking about this afternoon.” He said smiling wide at us both. I mentally smacked myself.

“Uh yeah.” Ricky said looking to me confused.

“Ricky, this is my boyfriend. Babe, this is my friend that I was talking to you about earlier.” I said smiling at them both. Pha’s smile was still there while Ricky’s had disappeared.

“I think it’s really great that Yo has a friend to hang out with while I can’t take him out.” Pha said. “It was great to meet you. Such a coincidence to see you both here. I wish I could stay longer but I must get to a meeting.” He said gesturing to a table with two men sitting at it already. They looked rich. “Perhaps we could hang out some other time, and somewhere that isn’t so formal.” Pha suggested. I smiled wide and nodded.

“Sounds great, babe.” I said. Ricky nodded in agreement.

“I’ll leave you to alone now. Have fun.” Pha said before leaning down and kissing me quickly. I was quick but the feeling of his lips lingered behind as he walked away.

“Your boyfriend sounds really nice.” Ricky said smiling at me with the look of hurt on his face. I felt bad, but at the same time, I was thankful that this would finally get Ricky to leave me alone.

“He is.” I said nodding as our food arrived. We sat in silence as we ate. I could sense Pha looking at me now and then. It made my heart beat quickly, and the lingering of his lips on mine was still there. I needed this to stop.

After Ricky dropped me off and an awkward goodbye I went upstairs and flopped down on my bed tired. I closed my eyes and when I did my phone beeped with a message. I groaned and pulled my phone out of my pocket.

UNKNOWN: How was your date?

It was Pha. How did he get my number?

YO: He thinks you are my boyfriend now.

I quickly saved his number to my phone.

PHANA: And that’s a good thing, right? It means that he’ll leave you alone.

YO: I guess you’re right.

YO: Thanks.

PHANA: No problem. It was nice pretending to be your boyfriend.

It was nice pretending to be my boyfriend? What was that supposed to mean? Did he like me? Please no. He can’t. Besides, he wouldn’t. Lemon likes me. He wouldn’t do that his friend. Would he?

I groaned loudly and slammed my phone on the bed. I needed to know.

YO: Where do you live?

PHA: Room xxx in the same dorm as you.

He lives in the same dorm as me? How did I not know this? And he finally knows where I live?

PHA: Why?

I got up and put my shoes on, ignoring the message sounds every few moments. I grabbed my keys and made my way to Pha’s room. I needed to know. That was the only way to get over it.

When I reached his door I knocked on the door a few times and waited for him to answer.

“What are you doing here?” He asked. His hair wasn’t styled like usual. It was shaggy and wet. He was wearing a pair of sweat pants and a plain white T. The sight of him made me forget why I had come.

“I wanted to talk to you about the Lemon thing.” I lied. He looked at me for a second before nodding.

“Okay. Come in.” He said. He moved aside and let me in. I walked in and slowly walked to sit on the couch.

“I just wanted to know what our story was.” I said. He nodded and sat beside me.

“All you need to do is tell me about yourself. Things that I can just feed Lemon for a little while. We can hang out like once a week so she doesn’t get suspicious. After this month we can forget about it.” He explained. Forget about it? That’s right. That was our deal.

    “Okay.” I said nodding.

We spent the next hour talking about me and things he could tell Lemon. But, somehow, talking about me turned into talking about ourselves, and an hour turned into three.

I looked down at my watch and sighed.

“It’s pretty late. I should go.” I said standing up. Pha stood up too.

“You could stay here, you know because it’s late.” Pha suggested. I laughed. Did he want me to stay? Did I just laugh? What?

“I live in the same dorm. I’ll be fine to go home.” I said smiling. He nodded and chuckled softly.

    “Right.” He said. “Bye.”

“Bye.” I said before taking my leave.

When I arrived back home I closed my door and leaned against it. I slid down it and sat on the floor. Why was I still smiling? Did I like him? No. I mean we only kissed once. And in the bathroom for both of them. I had only known his for like two days. There was no way I liked him.

    Right?
