Chapter 3 - The Next Day

I woke up to a dreadful sound know as my alarm clock. Squinting my eyes, I turned the annoying device off and lazily rolled out of bed, literally hitting my head on the floor. I groaned as I pushed myself up and walked to my oversized dresser. My hands picked out a white tank top alongside light wash shorts with rips on the hem.

I went into the tiled bathroom and quickly changed into my plenty-of-times-worn outfit. My fingers brushed through my hair and I decided to leave it natural. I walked back out of the bathroom to find my white vans and slipped them on. After I did as needed, grabbed my backpack and phone off the charger, I turned of my light and closed my door.

I treaded down the stairs and went into the kitchen to find my mom and my little sister Ciara eating cereal. Ciara's four now and she's just the cutest thing.

"Hey, sweetheart. I made some pancakes for you, I guess Cici didn't want any," she smiled. Her hair was pulled up today in a bun with a red stick pinned through.

"Thanks and yeah, I guess cereal's just the thing now huh?" I ask Cici, ruffling her hair. She giggled, her slightly crooked teeth shining up at me along with her bright green eyes that are similar to mine.

"Hi Jas," she gave me a big hug, her arms wrapped around my stomach as I leaned down to her height.

"Hey Cici." I went to sit down and eat my breakfast at the island after I set my bag on the floor next to me. Pulling out my phone, I checked my notifications. Four messages from Brent, Jake, Jack, and my best friend/sister Madi.

They all basically just said good morning and what are you doing, but Jack's was the last one.

Jacky! ;)

- Morning beautiful, can't wait to see you!

- Jack, it's only been like 7 hours. And why did you change your name in my phone?

Once I got done with my food, I stood up and put my glass plate in the large sink. I grabbed my maroon bag and walked outside to wait for the guys on my porch. I saw Jack walk out his house and look up at me from his gold phone. He smiled and strides over to me. I got up too and we met down the sidewalk.

"Hey beautiful, you look gorgeous as always," he winked and pulled me into his tight embrace. I laughed into his shoulder at his complement and stood on my toes to wrap my arms around his neck. He bent down to make it easier for me to reach so I could stand flat footed.

"Why thank you! You look mighty handsome as always too." He chuckled and grabbed my hand as we started walking down the somewhat wide sidewalk together.

He really did look good today. He was wearing a grey and white stripped tank top with, of course, some khakis.

"I just got your text message and I sent one back." His straight white teeth formed a prominent grin that appeared on his smooth face. It was enough to make my day. As cheesy as it sounds, it's true. His tongue would rest right behind his teeth where it was visible through the slim spaces between. It was a nice sight indeed.

My mind suddenly thought back to the question that still hasn't left my mind since last night as I kept my eyes on the cement.

Do I really like him? It's pretty obvious, but it's not, because it's not true. Maybe it's hormones.

"Hey babe, you look beautiful," some deep voice said, interrupting my thoughts. But by the sound of it I knew it was the one and only Jake Foushee. I looked up and saw I was right. I guess I was thinking so much about the dark haired boy beside me that I didn't even notice him right in front of me.
