I woke up with my face smushed up against the side of something soft. I laid still and thought back to last night. Slowly, I sat up and looked over at Jake, his head against a pillow. I sighed in relief and got up to go into his bathroom.

It had clean white walls with baby blue window curtains. I washed my face then walked back into the room and picked my phone off the night table. 6:00 am was displayed in a white text.

What the hell? Why am I up so early?

Shit, I forgot it's Monday.

I rushed over to Jake and shook him, trying not to be too rough.

"Jake wake up," I whispered and continued to shake him when he didn't budge.

"Jake! Come on were going to be late." I rose my voice and shook him more vigorously. He groaned and flipped on his side to face me.

"Come on Jakey poo," I said, my voice high pitched. His cheeks were red from sleep and smushed against his blue pillow.

"I don't want to," he mumbled and rolled back over.

"Jake, it's Monday. We have to get to school on time unless you want detention with Mr. Roby again."

Mr. Roby's horrible, literally horrible, especially if you get detention from him. Jake has already had that experience, and from his explanation, "it was shit".

"Okay, I'll be up," he groaned and rubbed his eyes, finally opening them.

"I'll be getting dressed," I called and walked over to a few boxes in his walk in closet.

I found a box labeled "Jasmine's Clothes" and opened the flap. Sure enough, it had all of my left over clothes I had at his old house. I picked out a decent outfit and walked out of the closet and into the bathroom. Jake must have went down stairs because he wasn't in his bed anymore.

Once I got dressed, I curled my hair and put in my earings, nose ring, and put on a bracelet and necklace. I left the bathroom and went down stairs where Jake, his mom, and Trevor were sitting at the table.

"Good morning darling," his mom, Joanna chirped.

"Good morning Joanna," I replied back with some pep but not as much as her. She's always been a morning person. She said it was something about how sunrise is where the angels come out to greet everyone with a promise. If you were to do everything you needed to do that day with joy, the rest of the day would be blessed by the angels. It was a weird way to look at it, but it was her opinion.

"We have french toast, your favorites." She smiled warmly as I sat down next to Jake. He scrunched his face up in disgust, nodding his head next to him. I gave him a disapproving look, holding back a laugh as he rolled his eyes and replied back to his mom.

"Thank you." She smiled back and went into the kitchen with Trevor following in after her.

"Thank god he left," Jake scoffed and shoved another piece of french toast into his mouth. I laughed and ate a few pieces of mine.

"Come on Jake, he's trying," I tried, looking back up him. He flicked his eyes up from his plate and rolled them dramatically with a groan.

"Yeah whatever." He flopped back in his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. I shook my head with a small chuckle.

It's been almost seven years since Trevor came to move in with Joanna and he still hasn't softened up to him.

Just as the tension started to thicken the air, laughing and squeaking of chairs were heard in the kitchen.
