It's 11:46 and we were all in the living room, watching the same movie, until I got a phone call. I quietly excused myself and went outside.

"Hello?" I didn't take the time to look at the caller id, knowing I never really get any phone calls from anyone other than my family and friends.

"Jasmine?" It was Jake. His voice was shaky and came out strain like he's been crying all day long and it scared me half to death.

"Yes Jake?" I started to get nervous, my heart skipping beats. Not only was he was calling and not texting me, but it's in the middle of night and I haven't talked to him in forever.

"Jasmine I-I didn't mean to I'm s-sorry," he staggered between panicked breaths and by the sounds of it he was crying. But what does he mean?

He didn't do anything.

"Jake what do you-"

"Jasmine, I love you I'm sorry, don't hate me. Please.." His breath shiffed to short staggered breath's in a matter of seconds.

"Jake, please, just calm down. I'm coming over now-"

"No, Jas please, you can't come here, you'll hate me," his tone was worried, like he didn't want me to know something.

"Jake, nothing you can do will ever make me hate you. I'll be at the door just, don't move." I sighed, exasperatedly running my fingers through my tangled hair and walked back to the backdoor.

"Okay. I won't. I'll be right in my room," he mumbled, his breaths growing smoother and normal again.

"Okay. I love you Jake," I said after a few moments, hoping to calm him as I leaned against the door and closed my eyes.

"Love you too," he breathed out. With that, I hung up. I really hope he's okay, this has happened too many times, but it's not like it's just going to go away.

I picked up my pace as I walked into the kitchen where my purse was. I grabbed it and stalked into the living room, going staright for the front door.

"Where are you going?" I turned around and Jack was directly behind me with a confused look on her face.

"I'll be back just- I'll call okay?" I know it's not right for me to lie to him, but I'd rather him not come with me and worry about it.

"Okay." His face was twisted with uncertainty as his eyes scanned over my face multiple times.

"Bye."

"Bye, I love you." His smile faltered, giving away his act and I did the same. I walked backwards through the door and was careful not to slam it behind me, then rushed out to my mom's car.

Once I found my key after rummaging through the pocket of the sweatshirt Shawn let me borrow and pushed it into the ignition, I sped off, my nerves getting the best of me once again. My head was spinning like a marry go round and I tired to pay attention to the stop signs and the street lights but I couldn't think straight. Luckily, I didn't hit anyone and I arrived at Jake's house in one piece.

His parents moved recently so he's currently staying with them until he finds an apartment. It's crazy that he's twenty but is still in the same grade as me and is already moving out on his own, away from his childhood home. His parents allowed him to live by himself even though he's still in school because he's twenty and he is pretty mature.

I rushed out of my car and ran straight to the door, not agreeing on whether or not to barge in or knock. I decided to call him because one, I don't have a key and two, his parents are probably asleep. Two rangs passed and I was already getting anxious.
