I woke up to a odd smell and a stiff bench. When I sat up, I noticed I was in the nurses office, a place I've been to more than my classes throughout high school. There was music playing softly like usual and a deep voice arguing with the nurse.
"What are you going to do?" The boy said to the nurse.
"Just wait until she wakes up," she said back with a frustrated sigh, typing away at her computer. He huffed and tugged at his dark brown hair and then walked toward me. When he saw me, his face lit up and he literally ran over to me, enveloping me into a hug after nearly falling on his face.
"Oh my god. Thank god you're okay." He breathed into my hair as I hugged him back. He pulled back and smiled at me, putting his hands into mine. I blushed at the gesture.
"Um, so what happened?" I questioned him and the nurse.
"You blacked out in the hallway and I brought you here," he answered, looking me dead in the eye. I nodded and looked at the clock hanging on the wall to avoid his gaze.
"How long has it been?" I looked back at Jack.
"Um, about two hours." He paused, glancing at the clock.
"Two hours?" My eyes widened in surprise. There's no way I could have been out for two hours.
"Yep, I was worried sick waiting for you to wake up." He lifted my hand to his warm cheek and smiled his lopsided smile. I smiled back and blushed for the second time.
"Aw, someone's blushing," he teased and poked my cheek.
"Stop." I blushed harder and swat his finger away. He erupted in laughter and threw his head back, his adam's apple bobbing up.
"It's not funny," I defended and tore my hands out of his, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Come on, I'm just teasing." His laughter eased down and he reached for my hands again.
"No." I turned my back to him so he couldn't see the smile I let slip through.
"Come on," he dragged out his words adorably and tugged at my arm, only for me to jerk it back.
"Alright then, have it your way," he sighed. Suddenly, a pair of hands gripped my waist and lifted me in the air. I squealed and pushed him away only for him to pull me back.
"You're not going anywhere," he whispered into my ear, sending chills down my spine.
"Jack, the nurse is right there," I lowered my voice and glanced at her door. It was decorated differently since the last time I've been here, which was last week.
"So? I bet she's seen worse, like people fucking on the bench." I slapped his arm for his perverted mind and he smirked.
"Jack! Stop it that's- " I was cut off by the nurses door being swung open.
"Hello Jasmine." Mrs. Lanchester smiled at me kindly with a clipboard under her arm.
"Hello," I greeted back and situated myself once he set me down.
"So, what happened to her? Since you didn't want to tell me earlier," Jack spoke up rudely. I nudged his side with my elbow and told him to stop. He groaned lowly, a small whiny noise coming from his throat and flopped back against the cold wall. I rolled my eyes.
He, unlike me, has a bad relationship with Mrs. Lanchester, or Anne as I can call her. He used to come here more often than me, surprisingly enough, because of the fights he used to be apart of. Luckily, for me and Anne, he has stepped away from trouble last year.
