Chapter 1- Here We Go

*Jack's POV*

Here I am again. Back at Burgess. I'm laying down, the soothing cold of the snow beneath me relaxing my muscles. I gaze up at the stars above me as I here a sharp sound of a twig snapping. I sit up and look around, grabbing my staff I slowly rise and begin walking over towards the sound.

As I come closer to the source, I can faintly hear voices mumbling. Once I listen more carefully, I recognise them as female and immediately relax a little. What harm could a girl do? I'd like to see her try and hurt me!

Suddenly the echo coming from in front of me come to a stop and silence falls around me. I take a step forward again, intrigued with who it may be. A few confusing moments flash by as I'm trying to fight off something and all of a sudden it covers me and I realise I'm covered with... Hair?

I frantically scramble around, trying to find a way out of the blonde mop of hair. As I eventually stand up and free myself from the locks, I look around for my staff that seemed to have slipped from my grip.

"Looking for this?" A voice breaks the silence, almost teasingly. I look up and I'm taken off guard when I see who is standing in front of me. She's cute, to say the least and her green eyes look straight at me. They're very pretty... Jack what the hell?! That's gross! Dammit. I snatch my staff from her hands and begin to walk away, ignoring any complaints from her. Leaving her behind sounds like a great idea until a thought stops me in my tracks.

She can see me? I turn back around to get a good look at her. She looks around 17 years old. How in the world can she see me? My gaze wonders up to the moon as I become deep in thought. That is until she coughs, letting me know that she is still there.

"Hello! I'm Rapunzel, I'm sorry about my hair, it gets in the way sometimes" she mumbles, trailing off while playing with her ridiculously long hair.

"I'm Jack" I mention as I extend my hand for her to shake. But before she could reach out for my hand I pull it back, regretting my actions. I'd feel as cold as ice to her. She shouldn't touch me. "What are you doing out here?" I ask her. She looks up at me as I talk and I notice that in the moonlight her green eyes look like giant emeralds.

"I was running, uh and I, uh, got lost. Then I saw you and here we are." Rapunzel explained hesitantly ,  "You don't happen to know a place I could stay for the night, do you?" She asked. I nodded at her words and turned on my heel, walking. I look back at her, seeing confusion written on her face.

"Coming?" I ask her. She immediately nodded and started to follow me, jogging slightly so she caught up.

Here we go.
