Chapter 4- Damn it

*Hiccups POV*

I couldn't just leave her there. I had to stay. I was leaning against toothless as I watched the flames in front of me dance. The sun was rising but I didn't get any sleep at all last night.

Suddenly i heard footsteps coming my way ad I looked up to see Merida. Her hair was more messy than usual- if that's possible.

"What?" She said. I hadn't realised I'd been staring at her.

"Nothing" I answered as I got up and got toothless ready.

"Where are you going? You can't just leave me here!" She had a point.

"Well where do you want to go then?" I asked not looking back at her.

"I don't know. I'll go where ever you're going" Merida replied. Where was I going? I don't even know.

"Okay" was all I could say. After a few minutes I climbed onto toothless with Merida behind me. I rubbed under his neck, signalling that we are ready.

~Skip forward~

"So where are you from Hiccup?" Merida asked. Oh gosh.

"What do you mean?" Well that was a dumb question. Way to impress a girl. Wait.. Why do I want to impress her?

"I mean where are you from? What's your story?" She asked annoyance in her tone. I sat down on the sand of the beach and started.

"Well, I am from Berk. And, uh, dragons kept stealing our livestock. And so we killed dragons, basically. Uh, and one day I found toothless here, caught in one of our nets and I was going to kill him but I couldn't so I set him free. But he couldn't fly away because of his tail and so I made a new thing for him I suppose. And I learned how to ride him. Then I found out dragons were only taking our livestock to feed the queen dragon and I fought her and that's how I lost my leg." I answered.

"Wow!" Merida was surprised. I don't know why though.

"What about you?" I asked her

"What?"

"What about you? What's your story?" I said.

"Oh well, my mum was forcing me to marry and so I found a witch that would help me change my fate but when I gave it to my mum it turned her into a bear. And my dad was going to kill her but I stopped him. And then the demon bear Mor'du came and we killed him and yeah" she said it like it was nothing.

"Why are you here?" I asked her

"Because, even though after all that she is still trying I get me to marry. I don't want to. I don't even want to be the princess. I don't want responsibilities, I just want my freedom and to live by my own rules. So I ran away." She explained.

That explains it al- wait... She's the PRINCESS?! Holy sh-

"She doesn't understand me" Merida interrupted my thoughts.

"I'm hungry, what about you?" I asked her trying to change the subject.

"I'm good thankyou"

She is pretty when she does that. When she explains things she looks, in a way, very g- stop it Hiccup! You can't like her. Damn it.
