A few months passed, and nothing exciting happened. I was sitting in my room, writing down a new entry for my training journal, telling it how a spooky mare can finally touch a plastic bag. I wrote down the date then shut the journal, putting it on my bookshelf. I sat back on the bed and turned on my phone, scrolling through my new text messages. All of a sudden, it started to ring. An untidentified number showed up.
Being the idiot I was, I answered.
"Ariana?" The extremely familiar voice said.
"Who is this?" I asked, very confused.
"It's Max! Remember? From the clearing?" He said.
"How did you get my number?" I asked, hoping he didn't stalk me.
"The girl who now lives at where you used to. Why did you leave without saying goodbye?" Max asked, sounding upset.
"I am so so so sorry, it was such a rush. I feel so bad now!" I said, actually feeling bad.
"Can we hang out soon? It's been a while." He questioned.
"Of course! I'll text you my address and we can figure out a good time." I explained.
"Alright, see you later." And with that, he hung up.
I quickly entered his contact then texted him my address, hoping he wouldn't show up out of the blue. I do miss Max, I just am a busy bee at the moment. After that my feet led me into the bathroom, and I brushed my hair. I did a braid style where two braids went on the sides of my head then met in the back. I put a few blue flowers grown in the garden in the braid, then applied a bit of makeup.
I walked out of my room and downstairs, walking into the kitchen. Annie was sitting at the table eating an apple. She looked up at me and smiled. "You almost ready?" She asked.
"Yep!" I answered, reffering to the activity we planned.
"You seem off, something going on?" Annie questioned.
"Max called me out of the blue, it was weird. We're going to hang out soon though." I explained. Annie nodded then looked back to her apple. I walked out to the barn and glanced at the mare I was working with earlier as she pranced around the circular pen. She tossed her head and nickered, then slowed down and pawed at the ground. I chuckled then turned back to the barn and walked in. It was empty, however the sound of horse's hooves against the bedding filled my ears. I continued walking through the barn until I emerged on the other side, called to Renegade who was prancing in his paddock. I opened the gate when he trotted over to me and slipped on his halter. He tried to toss his head out of excitement however I restrained him. He made a sighing noise, and then I finished buckling his halter.
I led Renegade toward the cross ties then hitched him up. He pawed at the ground slightly, then perked up and looked out toward the treeline. I scrubbed his slightly dirty body with the curry comb then went over all the worked-up dirt with a hard brush. I then brushed him with a soft brush to bring out the shine. I combed out his mane and braided it in a running braid, putting a few bluish flowers in.
I braided his tail (only on the top) and put a couple flowers in then picked out Renegade's hooves. Annie walked out of the house with her expensive camera and smiled at me. I was currently wearing a light blue dress with my now cleaned boots. I smiled and patted Renegade on the nose. He nickered softly, making me smile. I took off his halter then slipped on his bridle, which was this really fancy show bridle. I climbed on top of his back, and clicked him on. Annie retrieved her horse, Jaxx, from the barn. He was a really cute Chestnut, and had a cute snip. She groomed him as I warmed Renegade up in the arena. She then mounted, the camera on a strap that hung around her neck.
Annie always wanted to be a proffesional photagrapher, so I suggested me and Renegade would be her test subjects. When Annie was safetly atop Jaxx, we clicked the horses on and walked into the woods. It was a bit of a walk till' we got to the spot, which was this place that looked enchanted during the evening. Previously Annie and I rode out there and strung hanging lights from tree to tree and placed hidden lights in the bushes. There were fireflies that came out during the night, truly giving it an "enchanted" feel. We arrived at our first spot, which was a long stretch of grass resembling a runway. We had this built to be like the other one back at the old barn, and I loved it.
Annie nodded and got off Jaxx. She readied her camera as I trotted the awaiting Renegade in circles, and when she gave me the thumbs up I sped off like a demon. I had to run this a few times to get a few good shots, but whatever. It was fun. I got to the other side and ran back, a bit slower this time. I stuck my arms out like a plane and laughed as Renegade ran. I slowed him down near Annie, then halted him. Renegade still wanted to go, he was ready to bolt. He wasn't even breathing hard.
Annie mounted Jaxx and readied herself, making sure the camera was ready. Annie is so skilled at taking photos she can take them while riding a moving horse, it's crazy. We kissed the horses both into a canter, then moved a bit faster. I had to pretend Annie wasn't even there, however I stole a few glances. Annie smiled as we ran, snapping photos here and there. I slowed Renegade down to a walk and turned around, walking back. Annie smiled, looking at the photos as we walked. It was near sundown, so we had to hurry to the spot.
I entered this "ring" of lights that luckily had two entry/exits. I dismounted the horse underneath me and took off his bridle, setting it out of shot. Annie dismounted Jaxx and adjusted her camera's settings. I looked around and smiled at the fireflies who were just starting to appear. Annie told me she was ready, so I smiled and started having Renegade walk next to me. I sent him in a trotting circle around me, him bobbing his head to the stride. I then kissed him to a canter and had him go both ways. I stopped him straight in front of me, had him move his back legs over, and backed him up a few steps. Annie ducked down so she couldn't see me crouching in the camera shot, then gave me the signal. I signaled Renegade to rear and he did so, striking the air. When he landed he looked down at me, breathing heavily. I mounted him and had him stand still, occasionaly moving his head one way or another. I walked around in the large circle for awhile until I clicked Renegade into a trot. He trotted around, the sound of crickets, Annie's camera, and the breathing of horses filling my nose.
After the photoshoot we arrived home and it was dark. We put the horses in their stalls then fed them before walking back to the house. I took a quick shower than changed into my pajamas, grabbing a quick bite to eat downstairs. I went back upstairs and texted Niall about the day, then restlessly fell asleep.
