"These photo are amazing Ari." Niall said as he sat next to me on the couch as we clicked the mouse connected to Annie's laptop. The photos of Renegade and I galloping were amazing, the background and his legs were blurred, however his upper body and me were not. My hands were out like I was a bird, and Renegade's mane was blown behind him. I smiled and cuddled up next to Niall, placing a quick kiss on his cheek. He smiled and clicked off the pictures, then turned the laptop off. After a few minutes of sitting in silence, he spoke.
"I'm a bit hungry, I'll go get some food for us." He said. I sighed the sat up, watching the cute Irish boy as he walked swiftly into the kitchen. A few minutes later I heard a crash, causing my heart to stop for a moment. I ran into the kitchen and laughed when I saw Niall trying to reach for a plate on the top shelf, with a few cans on the ground below.
"I can't reach it!" he groaned, standing on his tippy toes. I smiled, then offered my help. I climbed onto the counter then got down a large plate for us to share. I walked back out into the living room and plopped down on the couch. Niall walked out a few minutes later with two sandwiches on the plate.
After around thirty minutes, I stood up, deciding we needed to work the horses. I put the empty plate in the kitchen then walked outside with Niall. I called to Renegade who was in the field, and he cantered eagerly to the gate. I opened it then herded him out to the arena. He tossed his head multiple times, eager to start working again. Moon was led out by Niall on a long lunge line, and he set to work. I had Renegade free-lunge around me, his tail swishing from time to time. After he was a sweaty mess, jogging around me, I decided to get on him. As Renegade continued to circle me, I ran up to him and mounted him at the trot. I kissed him into a canter and turned him so he was on the rail. He ran in a perfect lap before I slowed him down to a trot. He was breathing heavily, and his neck was hung low. I let Renegade walk it out as Niall finished working with Moon.
After I was out of the way, I swung my leg up and over Renegade's back, his body slightly swaying to the side. He balanced himself then turned his head so he was gazing at me, his eyes filled with excitement to start going. I decided it was about time I looked for a good galloping spot.
"I'm going out on a ride Niall, be back later!" I called. He nodded his head. I trotted Renegade into the barn and grabbed his halter, swinging my leg back off to slip it on. Renegade looked down the isle, then back at me as I fastened the strap. After the lead rope was swung over his neck I climbed up, then clicked him into a trot. Renegade trotted forward, the sound of his hooves on the dirt filling my ears. When I reached the treeline I kissed him into a steady canter, looking for a long strip of land. I could see a treeline ahead of me after ten minutes of switching between trotting, walking, and cantering. I slowed the horse down to a walk, then broke into the clearing. It was exactly what I was looking for; a long strip of land without any tree in my way. I clicked the horse forward into a upbeat trot, then let him go.
His strides lengthened as we continued to run, his breathing in pace with them. His mane flew up and nearly covered my face as he ran, my hands gripping his neck. It was exhilirating, looking between his ears as the ground flew past me. I could see the end quickly approaching, so I slowed the equine down to a walk. He breathed heavily, and when I turned him around he started to pick up an upbeat canter. I reached the other end in little to no time then trotted back, Renegade still wanting to move faster.
I reached the barn to see the sun was setting and everyone was gathered in the arena with their horses. Louis and Niall sat atop them, Liam, Harry, and Zayn stood next to them. I walked into the sand pit and stood next to Niall, taking his hand in mine.
"It's been quite the time lads." Louis said, patting his horse's neck. He smiled and directed his gaze toward Harry, who was hugging his equine. Zayn quickly mounted his mare, then clicked her a step forward. Liam mounted also, leaving Harry the only one on the ground.
"It's been fun." Zayn said, attempting to sit criss-cross on the horse. I smiled, then turned my attention toward Niall who was about to talk.
"We are gonna go on tour soon, so we won't be able to care for the horses for awhile." He said, looking at me.
"I know the drill, Niall." I said, smiling. He smiled back, then looked at Harry. We all sat quietly in our little circle, the sun finally disappearing behind the horizon.
"Here's to the year." Liam said, looking up at all of us.
"Here's to the year."
End
Okay I know that was sudden, however I have become bored with this book, knowing the end was near. I have some summaries for all of you to look at for future books. I want you to vote in the comments and I will get started on the one you want :)
Unnamed-
Her eyes flashed with the flickering light of the dying fire inside the hearth as the thick quilt draped over her pale shoulders sent a sensation of amiability through her body. Outside the unwashed window, the white frost descended from the sky, blanketing the ground. The girl coveted company and love as she perched herself on the old sofa, the feeling of warmth slowly slipping from her fragile grasp. The flame slowly died, the ashes gathering in a small mound on the brick base. The girl sighed, positioning herself on the side of her pallid body, pulling the quilt up to her scarred face.
Ghost-
The breeze softly blew throughout the tall oak trees as I walked down the long gravel path. My blue eyes scanned the horizon, it being a large, open plain surrounded by tall mountains. The leather boots on my feet made a ‘crunch’ noise as I walked. The large log barn loomed in the distance as I approached it. My ears filled with the neighs of hungry horses wanting to be fed.
The tall wood doors were pushed open as I entered. I could hear the soft rustle of pacing horses as I positioned the hay bale in front of the hay chute. Then, I climbed up the stairs and into the filled hay loft. My gloves effortlessly glided onto my hands, creating a barrier in between skin and prickly hay. One by one, I sent the bales down the chute, and after I picked up the fourth bale, the sound of a door opening and the ‘clip clop’ of a horse’s hooves on concrete filled the air. I dropped the hay and slid down the chute, then laughed at the sight of one of the rescue horses, Pete, munching on the forage. I clicked to him and he perked up his head, and softly blew with his nose. I smiled and led the beautiful chestnut paint into his stall, then examined the lock. I remembered I didn’t close the head hole at the top of the sliding door, causing Pete to stick his head out and open the lock. I made sure to close it this time, then returned to the hayloft to gather the bale on the floor. It flew down the chute and I went after it, pushing the prickly hay into the wheelbarrow. My feet led me toward the horses, neighing as I wheeled the hay.Unnamed-
The whale surged through the water, her flukes pumping up and down, up and down. She then angled herself so she was facing the clear blue sky, propelling herself high into the air. She landed with a mighty splash, soaking anything in close proximity to her. The whale slowed herself down, turning and coming back to the platform.
