Just as I finish my hair and makeup I hear Steve honk his horn at me, waiting to go to Tina's Halloween party. I quickly tell my parents goodbye and rush out the door before they can object.

I get in his car and smile "You ready to drink all our troubles away?" I ask, starting to take off my clothes.

"Hell yeah! Wait, why are you taking off your clothes?" Steve asks me, confused as to why I am currently only in my underwear and in the middle of taking off my shirt.

"Calm down, nothing you haven't seen before" I say smirking at the boy. He rolls his eyes at me and then keeps them focused on the road. "I couldn't leave my house looking like Daisy Duke, my parents never would have let me come. They are never home but when they are.."

"They pretend to care. I get it" He finishes for me, knowing our parents are the same.

"Now keep driving and no looking." I tell him as I attempt to pull my shorts on but it's more difficult now that the car is moving.

"Hurry up putting on your clothes Sky. We need to pick up Nancy still and I don't want her getting the wrong impression. She already isn't happy with me right now." He admits while he continues down the street.

"Uh oh, trouble in paradise? Finally going to tell me what's going on?" I ask, realizing Steve is still a little torn up about whatever happened earlier.

"The whole Barbara situation. Dinner last night didn't go as planned. She is feeling really guilty that we all know the truth, but her parents don't. She just can't let it go. I think, she thinks that we killed Barbara or something" he admits.

I begin tying my flannel "Steve, that was her best friend. You need to understand where she is coming from. All you can do is try and support her okay, listen to what she is saying, validate her emotions. All the good things an amazing boyfriend does for their girlfriend. Barbara's death isn't your fault nor Nancy's fault." I tell him, hoping his mood improves.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." He states. I scoff, "Of course I'm right loser. Now pull over so I can put my clothes in your trunk, I also don't want Nancy to get the wrong impression if she sees my clothes in your car."

Soon enough we get Nancy and I move to the back seat. Neither of them say much, so I choose to just listen to the radio. After what feels like the most awkward 15 minutes of my life, we finally arrive to the party.

I don't waste any time getting out of the car, wanting to escape being the third wheel of a fighting couple. I walk inside and can barely hear my own thoughts with the music this loud. The party is in full swing, and the house is extremely crowed.

I decide to get a drink before I have to deal with them again. I quickly take a shot with a random group of people from my chemistry class and grab a cup of whatever is in the bowl.

I walk back over to Nancy and Steve, about to invite them to get a drink when I see Billy head straight towards us along with Tommy and some other boy whose name I've forgotten.

"We got ourselves a new Keg King Harrington!" I hear one of them say. I roll my eyes, not impressed by this news. Steve's record wasn't that hard to beat if I am being honest.

My eyes glance over to Billy and I must admit that he looks really good. His open leather jacket allows his abs to be on full display, although I'm not exactly sure what his costume is. Billy looks over to me, and he rakes his eyes up and down my entire body. He smirks at me, clearly showing he likes what he sees.

Steve takes off his sunglasses, obviously not liking the news of his record being beat and Billy's actions towards me. Nancy and I look at each other, both ready to walk away from this toxic show of masculinity over a keg stand record.
