Chapter Twelve - Hanging out with Hargrove (1)

"I honestly, don't know why you agreed to be friends with Billy, Sky. The guy is a total dick and he doesn't respect women like he should" Steve interrupts my current thoughts as he walks into study hall. I frown at his statement. "What happened now?"

"Besides him dominating everyone on the court and then trying to be nice in his own sick twisted way, him and Tommy practically were harassing me in the showers. Saying how Nancy has already moved on with Jonathan but Billy said I had nothing to worry about. Something how there were plenty of bitches in the sea, and he would be sure to save me some." Steve rants.

"Wait, what's going on with Nancy and Jonathan?" I ask, choosing to ignore what Billy had said.

"They apparently skipped school yesterday and haven't been seen since. At least when we skip together, I always will see Nancy that night or show up the next day."

"Steve, I'm sure they skipped school for a good reason. Plus, this gives you more time to figure out what you want." I tell him, hoping to transfer my positivity to him. I was in a good mood today and I didn't want to see my best friend upset.

"I think I want to try and fix things with Nancy. Maybe, get her some flowers? I don't know. What do you think?" He asks, always so unsure about himself.

"I honestly have no idea, I'm shit at relationships you know that. But, what I do know is that Tina is throwing another party for whatever reason, and we are going tonight." I tell him, hoping this party might cheer him up. "This time there will be no relationship drama, because we are going to go together." Steve doesn't seem very happy when he agrees to go but he doesn't say no either. I spend the rest of our time helping him with his homework. The bell rings and I say bye to Steve, letting him know I'll see him at his car.

As I walk to my next class, Billy comes beside me. "Are we still on for after school today?" He asks, actually sounding like he has some excitement in his voice for once. However, when he sees my face he frowns. "You forgot, didn't you?" He asks, clearly a little upset.

I grimace a bit. "I may have forgotten, but that doesn't mean we can't still hang out. It's just Steve and I are going to Tina's party tonight. So, you would have to leave before he picks me up" I tell him, hoping he won't be upset. "Steve is having a hard time right now, which I'm sure that you know all about" hinting I know about all their private conversation they had earlier, "So I promised him we would go together to this party."

If Billy is pissed off he chooses not to show it. "Alright, I'll pretend I am not offended that Steve has priority over me, as long as I get to drive you home." I smile at him, "Yeah, I'm sure it won't be a problem. Now go to your own class before you're late." I remind him as the warning bell goes off. "Making plans to spend time with you will always take priority over class." He says before walking to his own class, turning around to smile back at me. I try to push away the butterflies I feel in my stomach from his smile and focus on making it to class. Getting involved with a boy is the last thing you need Sky.

School ends and I walk to Steve's car, he sees me walking up to him and smiles. "Hey goodlookin', what's cookin'?" He says snapping his fingers and pointing them at me.

I give him a smile before putting on my sunglasses. "I'm getting a ride home with Billy. I forgot I told him we would hang out today. However, we are still going to that party tonight mister. So, don't forget to pick me up."

Steve frowns. "Is Billy coming with us?" He asks, now seeming even less excited for tonight.

"Absolutely not, I told him I am going with you. Although he will be at the party I'm sure. But we don't even have to talk to him, you are my best friend and I will always put you first. Got it?" I tell him truthfully.
