Death was stronger than the sharpest knife.

At this point,

all I cared about was Addy.

She wasn't herself.

And,

unfortunately,

there was nothing I could do.

Other than be the good friend I should've been a long time ago.

She was covered in blood,

soaked in it almost,

sitting there,

holding Ashton in her arms as if she was still alive.

I walked to the door.

Eli sat outside,

curled up in a ball,

his head in his arms.

I leaned over the door.

"Eli?"

He looked up at me.

His eyes puffy and his shirt soaked.

He was a mess.

"She was the best thing that ever happened to me." He answers softly.

I walked out the door and sat down next to him with my legs crossed.

I sighed.

Unfortunately,

I knew exactly how he felt.

I took a deep breath,

trying to hold my tears back.

You know when there's something you need to say,

but you just can't?

otherwise the tears will just keep on flowing out,

and there's no stopping it.

He looked at the wall.

There were several pictures of him and Ashton.

"I just- I just want to rip this house apart!" He exclaims.

I look at the wall too.

"Everything was fine. Before." He says, his voice breaking slowly.

The police rushed inside and went into Ashton's room.

I'm guessing Addy isn't going to say anything.

"I just, feel so helpless. She's gone, it's all my fault."

"No- Eli, it's-" I began.

Suddenly,

in a quick motion,

he whips out a dagger and throws it at the pictures.

it hits his face directly.

"ELI!" I exclaim.

He scoffs and looks back at me.

"You don't get it, Bronwyn, and you never will!" He yells.

He stands up.

I get up with him and turn to face him.

"SHE WAS MY LIFE! MY WORLD! I HAVE NOTHING TO LIVE FOR ANYMORE!" He screams.

"SHE MADE ME FEEL ALIVE! NOW I FEEL LIKE I'M DEAD!"

I let him scream.

I let him release the rage of the dragon inside him.

It felt like the right to do.

But,

soon,

after 10 minutes of him screaming in my face,

I'd had enough.

"DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND HOW THIS FEELS? DON'T ACT LIKE YOU KNOW EVERYTHING, BRONWYN! BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW YOU DON'T. YOU'RE THE 'BRAIN', RIGHT? YOU'RE THE 'BRAIN' WHO CHEATED HER ENTIRE SENIOR YEAR AND WENT TO YALE!"

Then I'd snapped.

"Sure, I don't know anything. Say I don't. But I lost my baby."

He gasps.

I roll my eyes.

"You- you were pregnant?" He asks.

I nod.

Then he scoffs.

"DID YOU REALLY THINK I'D BUY THAT? YOU JUST HAVE TO MAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF ALL THE TIME, BRONWYN! NO WONDER NATE LEFT YOU!" He screams as he continued to throw knifes at the pictures.

Then I'd exploded.

I walked over to the pictures remaining.

I stood in front of one over my head.

"What are you-"

"I know talent when I see it. Go ahead, throw it."

I say that without regret.

"ARE YOU CRAZY? I'LL KILL YOU!"

I nod.

"I CAN'T! I WON'T!" He yells.

Suddenly a cop appears from the door.

"What is going on here?" He asks.

We both ignore him.

"DO IT, ELI! DO IT!" I yell.

"NO! YOU'LL DIE!" he responds in fear.

"DO I LOOK LIKE THIS IS A JOKE TO YOU? DO IT!" I yell back.

"Stop!" The cop exclaims.

"IT'S MY FAULT! SHE DIED BECAUSE OF ME! I WON'T LET YOU DO THE SAME!"

"I DIDN'T HEAR HER, AND I HEAR YOU. I CAN'T!"

"YES, YOU CAN! HEAR ME WHEN I SAY THIS: SHE LOVED YOU! IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT, ELI!" I scream.

"NO! I DIDN'T HEAR HER SCREAM! I DIDN'T HEAR HER-"

"HEAR HER NOW! HEAR HER!"

"SHE'S GONE!"

"SHE MAY BE GONE BUT SHE'S IN YOUR HEAD! LISTEN TO HER! DO IT!"

He sighs.

I close my eyes and breathe.

I decided to give him one final push.

"DO IT BEFORE SHE BLAMES YOU!"

And,

just like that.

A knife flips through the air ten times faster than a cheetah runs.

it lands inches above my head.

Suddenly a familiar presence surrounds me.

I smelt the leather.

I was frozen in place.

I looked to my left,

and there he was.

Nate Macauley.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?"
