Crash Here Tonight

(3) I Can't Do This

-3 weeks later-

Preslynn was in Nat's room doing her homework with the group she had been avoiding Bucky since he acted like he didn't have her to understand so she kept her distance. Her phone started to buzz and she saw that it was her mom. 

"Hey mom." she said 

"Preslynn baby..are you siting down?' Janie said

"Yeah mom I'm sitting down."  she said 

"Baby um I'm putting money into your account because um Preston was killed in action." Janie said 

"Mom.." She said with shaky voice 

"I'm sorry baby .." Janie said 

Preslynn hung up the phone and gathered her stuff and  Nat said "Preslynn breathe what's wrong." 

"I have to go." she said 

Bucky chased after her down the hall and said "Hey hey what's wrong." 

"Don't. I just want to be alone right now." she said 

"Preslynn.." he said as she slammed her door and slid down her door and cried.

Bucky walked back to  Nat's room and said "Did I miss something?' 

"Buck that night where you when off the deep end about how you couldn't go see Ashley and coach benched you." Wanda said

"Yeah." he said

"Preslynn was standing right behind you when you said that nobody understands how hard it is to keep the relationship going and not be able to have sex or have a dad over seas." Nat said 

Bucky looked down and said "Why didn't you tell me to shut up?"

He walked back down to Preslynn's room and knocked on the door. She opened the door and he said "I'm sorry if I made you feel like you didn't understand what it's like to be me." as she let him in. 

She looked down and he lifted her chin "Preslynn what happened?'

"My twin brother Preston isn't coming home." she said 

"Oh no.. Preslynn I'm so sorry." he said as he hugged her. 

"I can't do this. He and I were so close." she whispered 

"Shh it's okay. What did your mom say?" he said 

"She's sending me money to buy my plane ticket to go to the funeral but I'm not ready for that." she said 

"Come here baby doll" he whispered then pulled her down to her couch and they laid down and he held her as she cried in his arms. He kissed the top of head and whispered "Shh Preslynn sweetheart it's okay you aren't alone." as he rubbed her back. 

She woke up the next morning wrapped in Bucky's arms he had his hand on her stomach under her shirt holding her close. "Mmm" she said as she started to wake up and moved.

"Please don't move your ass like that." he whispered

"Sorry." she said 

She felt him smile against her shoulder and said "Good morning darlin." 

"Good morning." she whispered.

She rolled over to him "I like sleeping next to you. I seem to sleep better with you." he whispered 

She smiled and looked down "Is it wrong that I do too." 

"We aren't doing anything wrong sweetheart. We are just cuddling and I didn't even mean to fall asleep last night but I got comfortable." he whispered. 

She giggled then he said "Let's go get breakfast." 

They left her room then headed to a IHOP. Then did their homework in her dorm suite then watched movies cuddled up on the couch. 

A few days later he drove her to the airport and she had tears in her eyes "Text me when you land and text or call me anytime you want I don't care what time Preslynn I'll be here to get you when you get back okay." 

She shook her head yes and hugged him "I can't do this." she whispered

"Yes you can baby doll be strong. You are a red head you are built strong." he said as he held her cheeks.

He kissed her forehead then she went into the airport and he headed home to talk to his dad.
