A few weeks after she had Carter they were at the hospital with James and Becca. They asked Wanda and Nat to watch the baby so they could go. Dr Thomas came out to them in the waiting room.
"Okay guys. I'm sorry but it's time that we put her in a home. She doesn't know who she is I asked her all the questions that we have used to get her back and she can't answer them. I'm sorry Mr Barnes but your wife's memory of her life is gone." Dr Thomas said
Bucky started to cry as Preslynn held him and whispered "Shh baby shh it's alright we aren't alone remember that we have each other and Carter."
They followed Dr Thomas to a conference room and started to go over nursing homes. They finally picked one then did the paperwork. Then they left James at the hospital with Becca to pick up Carter. Bucky helped his dad the next day help him get his mom moved to the nursing home with his dad and sister.
A few days later she was doing her homework when her mom called hysterical.
"Mom what's wrong." she said
"Baby um we um I oh god Bailey talk to your sister." Janie said as she hands the phone to her sister.
"Bailey what's wrong?' she said
"Pres dad is gone. Dad's unit is gone as they were taking off to come home. That included Sean too as well Lucas." Bailey said
She felt numbness and said "Bailey .."
Bucky walked in from practice and he saw tears then he said "Baby what's wrong?'
"Buck. it's Bailey." Bailey said as she was on speakerphone.
"Bailey.. she's not moving but she has tears." Bucky said
"Um we are sending money for you all to get on a plane. Dad Lucas and Sean are all gone. Their jet was shot down as they were taking off to come home. Dad's whole unit is gone that includes her brother and Sarah's husband." Bailey said through tears.
"Okay um we will be down there as soon as we can don't send money I've got it." he said as he hung up the phone and he hugged her.
"OH baby it's okay shh." he said as he held her.
The next day they bought two tickets and packed a month old baby with two suitcases and headed to TN. They landed her uncle picked them up then they headed to her parents house they walked in and went down to the basement and got settled in.
Two days into being back in TN they were at the funeral for 3 different family members. While she was there talking to her grandma she heard
"Preslynn I'm really sorry about your dad and brothers."
She turned around and said "Josh.."
"Your little boy is adorable." he said
"Thank you." she said
He hugged her then said "I met Bucky he seems like a great dude and I'm happy that you found someone that makes you happy."
"Thank you Josh. I hope you find someone that loves you too." she said as Bucky came up behind her.
He looked behind her and he said "She's a keeper and a great girl Bucky like I told you. I'm glad that she found you even if it meant I had to lose her."
"Thank you Josh and again I'm really sorry about the cheating. I um we were both lonely that's all it was I wasn't trying to steal her away." Bucky said
"I know but she's hard to resist. Those green eyes have magic in them" Josh said
"That they do." Bucky said as he looked down at her.
"Well I um I just wanted to come and pay respects to you Preslynn I know how much your dad and your brothers meant to you darlin." he said with a smile
"Thank you Josh." she said
He kissed her cheek and said "Take care darlin." and he walked away.
"Well that was nice of him." Bucky said
"I know. I was surprised to see him" she said as she took Carter and they found a room for her to go feed him.
She sat there then said "Buck.."
"Yeah baby.." he said as he sat beside her.
"I um can we elope." she said as she looked at him.
He smiled and said "I've been thinking the same thing baby. It wouldn't feel right if we didn't have them there."
She wiped tears and said "Then um we need to plan it and um yeah do that."
He kissed her as he cupped her cheek and said "Baby it's okay we have each other we aren't alone. We have each other and him now we have our own family now baby."
She smiled and said "I know I love you Bucky."
"I love you too baby doll." he said as he kissed her again.
