Chapter 28 Whole Lot Of Crying
I wake up to an empty bed, I sighed before jumping out of bed and quickly changing into comfortable clothes. I brush my teeth and then my hair forgetting about any make up.
I walk down the stairs to see Jaces Mum and Dad, Jen, Robby, Brian and my mum sitting on the sofas looking confused.
Jace was standing in front of them looking nervous, but once his eyes met mine it looked like the nervousness went. His face lit up as I stood next to him.
"So whats this about?" Jen asked. "I hate being up early..."
"Is something wrong dear?" Jaces Mum said looking from me to Jace.
I felt Jaces body tense up, I laced our hands together squeezing slightly. "I... erm-- I have to tell you something..." Jace started off. Everyone looked at me and then my stomach.
"I'm not pregnant!" I snapped, everyone gave me look that said 'sorry' and looked back at Jace.
"I had to go to the hospital a couple of weeks ago... just for check ups... but erm..."
"Spit it out son." Max said looking impatient.
Jace cleared his throat, "Dr. Lee rung me for the results... the cancer--- its spread. Its everywhere..." Everyone was silent, I looked around the room as what Jace had said settled in.
"W--why didn't you tell us?" Jaces mum asked in a small voice, tears were treating to fall from her eyes.
"I didn't tell anybody Mum... not even Amy." Jace said walking to his Mum and wrapping his arms around her as tears fell from her eyes, "I'm sorry Mum..." I stood looking at everybodies expressions, Jen and Mum had tears filling in their eyes, as Jaces dad looked pained as he hugged his wife and Jace. Robby looked shocked and Brian, he looked angry.
"I can't do this..." Brianwhispered before standing up and running for the front door.
"Brian!" Jace shouted as he ran out of the house and slamming the door behind him. Jace was about to run after him when I put my hand up against his chest.
"I'll go..." I ran after Brian, once I got outside I saw Brian sitting on the pavement. His body was shaking as his head was looking down at the floor.
"Brian..." I said inching closer to him, he looked up at me. His eyes were filled with tears, his eyes were red and puffy.
"I'm sorry, I just-- I couldn't..." I sat down next to him, putting my arm around his shoulder.
"Its okay Brian... Its a lot to take in... I still can't believe it myself..."
"Why? Why does it happen to good people? Why Amy?" Brian sobbed into my side, letting all of his emotions out.
"I don't know Brian. But he's going to fight it, he said he will fight it and he right now needs us. He needs you, as his best friend you need to be there for him. We need to help him when he feels like he can't do it anymore." I said tears of my own running down my face.
"I know... I'm so sorry Amy. You don't need this..."
"Should we go back in?" I asked after a couple of mintues of not talking. Brian nodded and stood up, he helped me up. We walked back into the house where Jace was hugging Robby and Jen while Jaces Mum cried into Jaces dads chest. Mum was making tea and coffee and probably having a little cry too.
Brian walked up to Jace and hugged him telling him that he was sorry and that he was going to be there for him helping him. I smiled and went into the kitchen to see if Mum was okay.
