(#6 in Rikara as on 27th March, 2019)
Now I know the title says Rikara FF, but there is going to be quite a bit about other characters from the Oberoi verse, so bear with me.
Also, I'm no writer, this is just something that has been bugging my min...
Soumya woke up late, they had been partying hard yesterday night.
She and Rudra had clubbed her farewell and his internship success party. Honestly, Soumya was happier for him, than for herself, because no one expected such a glowing internship report for Rudra, especially the Ranas.
Rudra studying and doing well in the finals was surprising enough, but him actually having the potential to join a business on his own merit was near unexpected. Jahnvi aunty had actually shed a tear or two when she read the report, and Rudra extricated himself with difficulty from her hug, nearly shouting that he was going to party with his friends, and would celebrate with her later.
Consequently, they all came back home late, and now Soumya was looking at her pile of unfinished packing.
Soumya went down for breakfast, but Rudra was still out from yesterday night. So, she came back to pack on her own. Annika Di tried to help her with the packing, and it was a trial for Soumya, because Annika Di, bless her heart, wasn't the best at these household chores. Annika gave up after a while, and remembered some other work she had to look into.
Rudra entered her room, at mid-day yawning.
"Sumo, why didn't you wake me up?" he asked.
"Wake you up? But why?" asked Soumya surprised.
"I lost three hours I could've spent with you" said Rudra, confused that Soumya asked that question.
Soumya started giggling, and then all of a sudden, broke into sobs. Rudra was startled.
"Why are you crying?" asked Rudra, scared now.
"Because...I'm going to miss you, fool" replied Soumya hiccuping. "And not just you, but everyone here. My entire life, it was my mother, my brother and me, and then one day my brother left us, forever.....then I met your family, and they accepted me as their own. But it was only for a year, and now I have to go....and for the next five years, I won't get to live here, with them...."
"Sumo, its just five years, they'll pass away like this" said Rudra, snapping his fingers.
Soumya giggled.
"I am more worried about another matter" said Rudra.
"What?" asked Soumya.
"What if you find some really attractive nerd there?" Rudra joked. "Phir mera kya hoga?" (Then what will happy to me?)
Soumya rolled her eyes, and said, "Very funny, but on a serious note, Rudy, this just reminds me...you know we are going to be far, even if there is skype and you come to visit me, there is going to be a distance, and if....if one day you feel the relationship is not working out, or...you meet and like someone else....just tell me okay? Don't hide it from me, and let me know the truth."
"What a bizarre thing to say Sumo! I didn't propose you, to break off our engagement. Nothing like this is ever going to happen. I'm not going to leave you so soon, however, stalker-ish this sounds" said Rudra.
"Well, you better not, otherwise, I'll chop off you know what" said Soumya, grinning.
Rudra laughed, and they put their foreheads together.
