Chase Cavanaugh knocked, waited for her to give him permission to come in and then opened the door to see his daughter sitting on her bed, dressed for the day staring at her phone that was blowing up. "I can tell you what that's about" he said with his arms folded, he was leaning against the doorway to give her space. "Enlighten me" she said with her eyes closed as he sighed. "We need to go to the Gallaghers, your dear mother, Brett and Lennon turned up" he said with disgust in his voice as she nodded. "Of course they went to the Gallaghers, wouldn't dare set foot in this house. Coward" she spat as the man nodded, agreeing with the vengeance for the woman that was her mother and reassured her that he'd be there the whole time if she needed him.

Chase awkwardly stood at the door, not knowing how to approach going in but his daughter sighed and opened it, barging her way in so her mother stood up. "Charlotte" she said through a forced smile as Chase put his hands on his daughters shoulders to show her he had her back. "Lins" he said through a genuine smile, it was always nice to see her even if she was so horrible. She couldn't even look at him, he never called her Lindsay, it was always Lins. "Chase" she mumbled awkwardly as Brett put his arm around her, he was threatened. "It's quiet at home with you Lottie" he said, once again, fakely as Chase scoffed. "How many years have you lived with these people ? They still can't get your name right. I didn't spend weeks picking a name for it not to be used" he said while shaking his head as Brett walked up to him. "What do you mean ?" he asked, he looked like he was squaring up to him, he towered over Chase in height but they were matched in strength.

"First of all Trent" Chase began but Brett poked him in the chest and corrected him so being the man he was, Chase pretended to wipe spit from his eye. "She was never born Charlotte so there's no Lottie to shorten it to. She was named after me, my father, his father and my great grandfather, simply just Charlie but I'm sure Lins told you all about it" he explained but before anything could break out she wandered over to her fifteen year old step-brother Lennon who was sitting on the couch, his leg was bouncing up and down, he was evidently afraid about what was going to happen.

"Len ?" she said in a genuinely happy voice as he stood up and hugged her, he needed that hug, she could tell. "Charlie, Jesus am I happy to see you" he said while taking a breath as she raised an eyebrow. "They had a massive bust up last week, I thought my dad was gone for good. Usually I'd just go into your room and you'd block out all the noise but I couldn't do that this time" he explained as she nodded and sighed remembering how explosive the couples fights got and how she'd have to be Lennon's protector, he didn't know the extent of them as well as he thought. "I wish I had your dad, there's always somewhere to escape to then" he said while looking at Chase in awe, the man stood there with his arms folded and an unamused look on his face while Bretts face was going red and the vein they both named "Vera" was poking out of his forehead.

"He's the best" Charlie said honestly as her brother nodded. "He's also young and cool, like he understands young people stuff. My dads forty and thinks owning a fitness Instagram account and wearing skinny jeans is a personality trait" he said as she laughed but couldn't help but agree. "Mines thirty-three, had me when he was fifteen so basically grew up with what I did. He doesn't have to try" she explained but they were interrupted by Brett shouting, she wasn't going to stand for that.

"I offered Lindsay stability, security, a lot more than you could've. Atleast I wasn't going to trap her here and be Chicago South Side trash like you" he spat as Charlie walked over and stood in front of her dad. "Move Lottie, I'm talking" he said while shoving her to the side but she put all her strength into making sure she didn't move. "If you think my dads Chicago South Side trash then you must think the same about me and even my mom, your little Lindsay bear, she fit the stereotype for this neighbourhood, she had me at fifteen. Just because she dragged me to New York for you doesn't change where she grew up" she spat as Lindsay kept her eyes on the ground but Chase held his head high.
