Lip was back in exactly five minutes and forty six seconds, she knew because she'd been counting. He didn't say a word or mention his conversation with Kevin, he just sat down and started wolfing down a bowl of off-brand Fruit Loops. It was silent and she was filling the milk carton with water so it would last them the rest of the morning when the back door burst open and a black haired boy and girl appeared in their kitchen. "Ian, you took my French binder" the girl announced but Ian looked confused. He stared at her with furrowed eyebrows until she sighed. "Yellow, skull drawn on the front" she said like the answer was obvious, it was enough for him, he realised he did in fact take it and the pair went upstairs to get it. This left Charlie and Lip standing with the boy.

He was rugged and mysterious, once he realised he was left practically on his own, he shrugged, walked to the counter and shoved a piece of buttered bread into his mouth, that was when he noticed her. "Who the fuck are you ?" he asked between mouthfuls while she put her makeshift milk back in the fridge. "Charlie Cavanaugh" she said blankly, he scrunched his face in disgust so it told her instantly he wasn't a fan of her name. "And where are you from, Charlie Cavanaugh ? I've never seen you before" he asked while wandering over to her as she sighed. "Depends who you ask. Chicago but also Brooklyn" she said as he smiled a smile that lit up his whole face. "Brooklyn, there we go" he said while biting his bottom lip as she titled her head, obviously confused. "Your names Brooklyn" he said while biting into yet another slice of bread. "Charlie" she said slowly, thinking he wasn't getting it but he just laughed in her face. "Well, I said it's Brooklyn, so it's Brooklyn" he said through a shrug as she scoffed. "And who the fuck are you ?" she asked, she took a big step closer to him, her voice was low, Lip wasn't sure if she was trying to act intimidating or not but it was sexy and he knew Mickey thought the same. It angered him.

"We better get going, we're taking Liam to the park" Liam said bitterly from the table but her attention was focused on the boy who renamed her, she wanted to know who he was. "Micky. Milkovich" he said quietly since they were so close. "Any relation to Iggy ?" she asked as he nodded but looked at her confused. "Brothers, what's it to you ?" he asked as she smirked, she knew she'd have him there. "He's a friend of mine" she said about to walk away, she knew what she was doing, he grabbed her arm and pulled her back, just like she expected. "You ? Friends with Iggy ?" he asked, he sounded almost panicked and she loved it, she smiled and looked him dead in the eye. "I mean, it's what we call it but I don't kiss and tell. I suppose I'll be seeing him now that I'm back" she teased as  he shrugged, he felt threatened, she could sense it. "Why do I care ?" he asked, clearly annoyed but trying to play it off as she shrugged. "I don't know, why do you ?" she asked, breaking out of his grip, perfect timing as Ian and the girl came downstairs.

"Jesus, what took so fucking long" Mickey barked while storming out, the girl rolled her eyes but followed him out, the second the door shut, Lip stood up. "Have fun trying to get into Mickey's pants" he said while putting his bowl into the sink as she laughed but he looked at her sternly and folded his arms. "You're wasting your time" he said while leaning against the counter, he was speaking to Ian with his eyes, she could see it. "Lip" Ian warned but he was interrupted. "The Milkoviches, they don't fall for people, they ruin them" Lip continued as she shrugged. "I don't need you to background check or approve anyone I talk to. I didn't even say I found him at-" she began but he'd interrupted, once again. He couldn't be reasoned with once he had a notion in his head. "You didn't need to, you pressing yourself against him told me enough-" he began as her jaw dropped obviously offended. "Pressing myself against him ? I was just tal-" she shouted but for the third time, he cut across her. "Look at what happened with Iggy, I was left picking up all the pieces because you ran back to New York" he roared as the other two looked at him in shock.

"That was harsh" Ian said awkwardly as Lip's eyes widened, realising what he'd just said. "Fuck you" she whispered, she wanted to shout but the hurt was so evident in her voice that she couldn't, even if she wanted to. They took a couple of seconds to cool down before deciding to go for a walk. It was what the trio did, if anything got heated, they walked and talked, aired it and got it over with.

It was an awkward silence filled with tension until they noticed Karen Jackson walking towards them. "Jesus Christ" Ian mumbled, he turned his whole head so he was just facing Charlie so he could pretend he didn't notice her. Charlie didn't care enough to hide her dislike for her, she just rolled her eyes. "Why do you two hate her ?" Lip asked but before they could answer, Karen approached them and they were forced to talk to her.

"Lip" the girl shrieks through the fakest smile as she pulled him in for a hug. He didn't say anything back, he just kissed her which made Charlie and Ian physically gag behind them. "Grow up" he spat as Karen nodded in agreement. "Some people are just immature. I'll see you tonight" she said before pressing a kiss on her cheek. She turned on her heels to walk away until she noticed Charlie standing there. "Charlie ?" she said through a gasp but Charlie's face stayed blank. "Karen" she said unamused as the blonde looked her up and down. "You-you just haven't changed, at all" she managed to say as Charlie titled her head. "Meaning ?" she asked bitterly but it was brushed off with a giggle and she carried on walking down the street.

"She's cancer. You just get rid of her in one spot and she'll pop up in another. Getting rid of her yesterday at school should've been it, I didn't expect her to pop up at home" Ian ranted as Lip shrugged. "She's not so bad" he said while removing the cigarette from behind his ear and lighting it up. "We're talking about the same person ?" she asked as the boy nodded and looked at her like she had seven hands. "Of course he'd say that when he's fucking her" Ian said while shoving his hands into his pockets, he knew it would stir the pot so to shut him up, Lip gave him the cigarette. "We're friends, alright ? Nothing more" he said but Charlie knew, with the exception of her, "friends" to Lip was always something more.

When Ian dropped the bomb, they'd just turned a corner and standing on the sidewalk was a man they knew all too well. "Dad" Charlie shouted as she ran up to him and wrapped him in a hug. He was shocked, he wasn't expecting to see her so he picked her up, just a couple of centimetres off the ground and savoured it. She was his one and only daughter after all. "Private" he said back, relieved that he finally had her back, he didn't trust Lindsay.

Once he put her down, Lip and Ian had already caught up to her. "Sir" Ian said, it was formal, his back was straight and he saluted her father which just made him smile. "We've been through, that's only for ROTC" he explained as Ian nodded awkwardly and refrained from calling him sir again. Lip on the other hand couldn't take his eyes off the floor and was inhaling his cigarette like it was air. "Lip Gallagher" Chase said through as smile, this made him look up. "Chase" he said blankly, Chase was expecting more but wasn't getting it. "What ruffled his feathers ?" he joked while judging the other two who shrugged. An awkward silence fell upon them until they heard a phone buzz in Lip's pocket. It was the communal family phone that he'd obviously kidnapped, once again. "I'll catch up with you guys" he said uninterested before putting it to his ear and heading off in the opposite direction.

"Is he alright ?" Chase asked, concerned, this wasn't the boy he knew, Ian answered with a shrug. "Been weird since Mickey came over" he said honestly as Charlie sighed. "I was literally just talking to him but Lip was trying to stop it, he told me we were supposed to take Liam to the park, that was never happening" she explained as Chase took it all in and nodded. "I could be wrong but I've always thought he liked you. I can guarantee it's jealousy" he preached as Ian nodded back in agreement. "Without a doubt" he said through a smirk but Charlie scoffed in disgust. "Let's go Ian. You're coming to my party at the Alibi, right ?" she asked, it sounded more like she was begging but her father told her he wouldn't miss it for the world.
