My arm hung lazily out the window of Luke's car as the window caught my hair and threw it every which way. I didn't mind because the cool breeze felt amazing in the heat of the car. The music was turned up and the beat made my seat feel as if it were vibrating, I tapped along on the side of the car.

Luke was on my left, one hand gripping the steering wheel and the other was tapping on the console, his head nodded along to the words, his eyes would flicker to the rearview mirror just to get a glimpse of Charlotte silently mouthing the lyrics.

The sun was slowly but surely burning out but the heat was as severe as it was a couple of hours ago. It casted a soft pink blended with bright orange over the horizon, it was the end to what Luke described as 'The best day ever'.

I'd have to agree with him on that one.

First, we went to Pier 39, where Charlotte insisted we ride the Ferris wheel about seven times. After that we walked around for a bit and grabbed some ice cream, Luke spilled his on the floor about the same time he walked out of the store, which resulted in him complaining about how they wouldn't give him another one for about an hour afterwards.

I'd told Charlotte and Luke that I have never visited the aquarium before, they refused to go anywhere else before we went there. As soon as we arrived they were practically bouncing off of the walls. I was in awe as well, it really was incredible, seeing all those amazing creatures in one place.

We walked through the crystal-clear tunnels, our heads thrown back the whole way as we we all watched, mesmerized by them floating just above us. But Luke's favorite part was when we visited the American River Otter exhibit.

It was quite precious the way him and Charlotte were so dazzled by the furry animals. I personally enjoyed being so closed to a seven-gill shark, I'd never been so close to something so lethal and it was such a rush.

Following after that was more roaming around, stumbling on some pretty decent street performers along the way,

A few pictures here and there and before we knew we were eating again at a restaurant by the pier, giant glass windows which practically served as walls gave us a perfect view of the gorgeous whether outside.

We debated on what to do next, Luke wanted to see a movie, Charlotte wanted to go play carnival games and I wanted to go down by the beach.

So of course we decided to do all three, we squeezed in all the activities with time to spare.

When it was time to go, Luke packed the trunk with large stuffed animals, mostly won by Charlotte. We were all pretty worn out, the drive home was longer than we had expected but it was all totally worth it.

The light from the sun gave way and the shining of the stars took its place in the dark of night. My head pressed against the car door, my eyelids falling slowly until they were shut completely.

The rhythm of the car acted like a lullaby, putting me to sleep quickly. I hung onto Luke's free hand, his thumb tracing circles on my hand.

"Paige"

Luke's voice echoed through my mind before I realized I wasn't dreaming.

My eyes open to focus in on his face, he smiled slightly once he saw that I was awake.

"We're home, babe." He said, unbuckling his seatbelt, moving over to mine after he was done.

I didn't even want to move my hands, I let Luke unbuckle me and open my door He held his hand out for me to stand up and steady myself.

"Where's Charlotte?" I ask, looking into the empty backseat.

"I dropped her off at Ms. Caster's." I nodded even though I wasn't even sure where that was.
