AMBER SAT ON her porch, pulling her knees into her chest, resting her head on them. one single tear slipped from her eye, and she let it run its way down her face and fall onto her arm.

she didn't want to cry, she didn't want to be heartbroken, because no matter how much andi hurt her, she will always think the best of her. andi mack was possibly the best person she knew and she would never put a bad word next to her name.

so no, she isn't heartbroken, she doesn't want to be heartbroken, because she doesn't want that word even in the same sentence with andi. she's too pure of a person, to amazing to be put next to such a vile word.

the screen door creeked open, revealing her brother tj. he slowly walked over to her, kneeling down in front of her. there weren't many times when tj kippen was soft, except when it came to amber. anytime she was upset or feeling sick or literally anything, he was by her side immediately.

he watched her for a minute, watching as another tear slid down her face. she watched as he gently picked her up bridal style and sat down in the chair, her now resting on his lap. within seconds ambers head was in his shoulder, and she couldn't hold back the sob.

"hey, hey, amber." he whispered, cupping her cheeks and lifting her head up to face him. "it's okay."

she nodded, but the crying didn't stop. he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back into his chest and let her cry.

tj didn't know how long he'd been holding her before the crying died down and her head had now been facing to the side, looking at the trees on the side of their house.

"you okay, ambs?" he asked, stroking her hair. she looked over at him, "i lost someone i really cared about today . . . and all i can think is . . . how wonderful it was to be loved by someone like her."

tj smiled for the first time since he walked out of that door, he interlocked his hands with hers and said, "you're the strongest person i know, bub." and gently kissed her temple as she looked back over at the trees.
