Louis POV
Mari, Mr. Mrs. Everett hopped into that car and so did I. Mr. Everett turned on the car and speed out the driveway. " What the hell happened?" Mrs. Everett, turning around to look at us with tears in her eyes. "We- I don't know". Said Mari, wiping her teary eyes
"We were coming back from the trip and..."
"Oh God". Mr. Everett shook his head. "Javi was just picking them up from baseball practice...christ". The car when silent. Mari sobbed quietly onto my shoulder, almost crying herself to sleep. Behind the driver seat, I notice something by my feet.
I bend down and grabbed the mysterious object. It turned out to be Beet Nick. One of Disco Broccoli's friend's. Must belong to AJ. Tears blurred my vision from the small toy.
I put the toy in my pocket and looked out the window, praying that everyone in that car crash is ok. Then my eyelids got heavier and heaver. I dozed off slowly.
Time Skip
I woke up to a small shake. "Wake up we're here," Mariana whispered yelled. I see everyone shooting out the car and into the Hospital. With a sudden realization, I shot out too. By the time I was at the entrance, The trio was already looking for Clem, AJ and Mr. Garcia. In the corner in my eye, I see Kate, Mr. Garcia's fiance, and Gabe.
"Kate!" Mari ran up to them and gave them a hug. While I just hope Gabe doesn't notice me.
"Uncle Javi he... He" "Shh," Kate Comforted the two. "The doctor said that he will be okay". "Hello, can we see Clementine and Alvin Junior Everett." Asked Mr. Everett. " Wait, Clem was in the accident too? " Gabe questioned.
Mrs. Everett gave a slight nod to the family. Kate covers her mouth and Gabe put his hands on his head. "Yes, just go to the second floor, rooms 17 and 25. you will find them there. " Said the lady at the desk. "Thank you!"
Clem's Parents and I speed to the second floor. "Room 17, that's Clem's room." Mr. Everett pointed. "You guys stay. I'm going to check on AJ". We all nodded and split up.
I stood in front of room 25. " please be awake, little dude". I knock on the door. Nothing. I open to see AJ fiddling with the blanket that was laid over him. "Louis.." He said with a groggy voice. I held back tears. "Hey, AJ".
" Is Mom and Pop here?"
"Yes, they'll be here soon". I say scooting a chair next to his bed. "Are Clem and Javi ok?" He shifts in his bed. "They're alive...". I sigh. " that's all I care about, " smiles AJ. His smile was so sweet. It made me happy. "Louis?" "Remember when we hung out at the park?”
"Yeah.."
"When I and Clem get out the hospital....can we hang out again?
I gave a sincere look at the boy. " yes, I can promise you that. You, me, and Clem, every weekend no matter what."
"Awesome.." AJ rubbed his eyes. "I wanna take a nap, " he turns to the side, not facing me.
Before I leave, I take the toy I found in the car. I put it on the nightstand. "Bye, little dude, "
"Bye Lou, " I closed the door. I jogged down to Clem's room. I see her parents in front of the door, crying. "She okay?" I asked. Mrs. Everett looked at me. "She's not awake. How's AJ?" "He's fine," I said? "Can I go check on Clem?" They nodded and walked off.
I walk into Clem's room. She had bandages on her head. Seeing her that way made me feel nauseous. I sighed and stood next to the bed. "Hey, Clem," I said, looking down at her.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you,"
"I'd give anything just to make sure this didn't happen, " "AJ and Javi are ok, but I'm worried about what happens to you," I choked on sobs. "Before anything else happens, I wanna get something off my chest,"
I wiped my eyes and put my hand on hers.
"You've called me your best friend. You've called me your best pal. You've called me “A friend till the end,” I laughed, " And I feel honored to have those titles, and this may sound weird since we've known each other for the last 5 months, but.."
"I like you... You're the only person who can make me happy when I'm sad. You're the only person I know who can turn the worst thing in the world the best,"
I whipped my eyes again. "And you're the only one who can make me cry like this," I chuckled softly. "If you die, I wouldn't want you to die not knowing this," One of my tears dropped onto her cheek. I sighed and wiped the tear off. I looked at her for a while. She seemed so peaceful.
I looked at her more, until I couldn't hold it in any longer. I started to break down. "I'm so sorry Clem, " I sobbed. "If I could rewind time I would," I kissed her forehead and laid my head on her stomach.
"You didn't deserve this. You deserve to be home right now, you and AJ," I let out an ugly sob and just prayed that it was a dream.
