A tiny one-shot until I get chapter 12 finished.
8:00 PM
Schools gymClem sat in the corner of the gym, eating a cupcake. Clem wore an orange dress along with bright orange flats. Enough to make her look like an actual clementine. Lights were flashing, music was blaring people dancing, everyone was having a good time except her.
Her date Gabe stood her up and she had nobody to have around with.
She started at the door, hoping he was just late. Didn't take her long to figure out that he wasn't going to be there.
She just wanted to leave right then and there. She started to cry a little. Thank God she didn't wear any eyeliner."rough time?"
A boy with dreads put up into a ponytail and a tux stood In Front of her. "No having a great time, shut up." She wiped her tears.
"The tears on your face would say otherwise,"
"Tears of happiness..."
"You're not fooling me."
He sat down next to Clem. "Might sound weird coming from a stranger but I honestly want to know what's wrong..."
Took Clem a second to answer the stranger. "Date didn't arrive...I've been texting him...he forgot all about me" Clem looked at him, his face filled with shock. "What?" She giggled.
"He stood you up?" "Yeah, not the first time he hasn't shown up to anything special..."
"The guy must be a fucking idiot!" He basically yelled at her. "You're stunning, you're pretty, you're-"
He looked back on the girl, Clearly shocked.
"Being weirded out by a stranger that you don't even know..." He rubbed his neck, blushing.
Clem giggled. He held out his hand. "Louis..." Clem went to go shake his hand. "Clementine, Like the fruit."
"Nice to meet yea." They sat in silence at the watched people dance. "W-well what I'm saying is, If you put in time and effort for him he doesn't do the same, he doesn't deserve you." Hearing those words made Clem feel a lot better.
"Well...Thanks, Louis...I needed to hear that, " she smiled.
They just smiled at each other. Louis blushed as Clem giggled. A certain song broke the comfortable silence.
Clem gasped. "I love this song!" An idea popped into Louis's hollow skull. He proceeded to get up and dance like it was no tomorrow.
"Louis!" Clem laughed. She couldn't tell if he was good or bad at dancing. Louis held his hand out. "Don't make me dance alone."
Her phone rang. It was her “so-called date”. She looked at the phone and looked back at Louis. He lifted an eyebrow. She smirked and looked back at her phone.
She declined the call.
"Shall we?" Asked Louis.
"We shall"
They ran to the dance floor. They danced together like two dorks. Clem did twirls as Louis did shuffles and slides. Louis even dipped her.
When Clem was dancing, she tripped on her own foot. She fell onto her Louis's chest. Both of their faces burned up. They both exchange looks.
Louis had a sudden urge to kiss her. He leaned in closer...
closer
And closerClem pressed her finger against his lips.
"You thought it was gonna be that easy?" She smirked as she flicked his forehead." "Yeah maybe."
She kissed him on the cheek. "Nice try."
They both danced until the end of prom.
A night that neither of them could forget.
