Luke gave me a half smile before he ushered us to an old tree stump to use as our makeshift seats. I wasn't planning on telling him my life story right this minute so I would've picked a better place. One without bugs and wasn't humid. I let out a sigh once we sat because I now knew there was no way of getting out of this.
"Luke before I tell you any of this, it's over. I can't do anything about it. I'm probably going to look different in your eyes because you'll most likely pity me and I don--"
"I don't care Allison. If we are going to be friends, you should tell me," I was cut off by Luke intertwining our hands. It was a simple gesture that made my heart flutter, even though I still flinched at his sudden touch, "plus it was obviously something bad because you just flinched when I did that." Luke frown making his lip pout. He looked really cute right now.
But that wasn't the point of all of this. I needed to tell him about it.
"Luke," I paused looking down at our hands, "Can it please wait? I want to make sure that I'm telling the right person about this. I haven't told anyone and telling you, a guy I just met isn't the best option. Obviously I'm not okay with telling people because no one knows, except me and him." I just didn't feel comfortable enough to tell him.
"right, I'm stupid for trying to get you to tell me something. I can wait Allison, it's fine. I just saw it and whoever did that to you made me want to know who could hurt such a beautiful person like you," Luke thumb now rubbed my hand that was intertwined with his. I couldn't look at him, how could i?
He cares more than anyone else has when it came to this subject. I mean my mom and Tom have asked, but not to the point where it's like they care. I could just lie, and they'd believe it.
"hey," Luke said making me look up, "let's go back to Alex. I know he's probably ready to ask us what he should do with the girl. He's a clueless little boy, he needs our help!" Luke said making me laugh. He jumped up and acted like a superhero smiling at me, "May Dr. Fluke accompany Ms. Reeves?" He extended his hand out for me.
"Dr. Fluke?" I raised an eyebrow at him giggling.
"Flirt and Luke combined, because I'm definitely Dr. Flirt, but I'm sure someone already has that, so I wanted to be original," Luke said as if his knowledge meant something. I thought it was cute how he just came up with that, he took effort in it unlike other guys would do, "Now what do you say?"
I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up, "I'd love to Dr. Fluke."
He smiled before wrapping his arm around my shoulders as we took our walk back to the park. I looked up at him and he was smiling down at me, "thank you Luke." I whispered almost so low not wanting him to hear it.
but with my luck, he heard.
"for what are you thanking me for?" Luke said sounding a little too proper making his present accent heard. He licked his lips waiting for me to reply. I could see a hint of confusion in his blue eyes.
"for not making me tell you. If it was anyone else they would've made me and I really like the fact that you want me to be comfortable telling you. It makes me trust you more, it's not like everyone can meet someone and feel comfortable telling them their dark secret that no one else knows," I looked up at him and he smiled down at me. I swear his dimples will kill me if I kept looking at them.
"No problem Allison," He cooed squeezing me a little tighter. Our footsteps were in sync at we made our way back to the park where Alex was still playing with Rebecca, they were laughing about something embarrassing Alex did I'm sure. He gets that from me.
Luke and I strolled over to Rebecca's mom where we took a seat next to her on the bench. She gave us both a small smile, "You guys live around here right?"
