Ermac paced around the living room waiting for Kenshi to return with Takeda. He didn't want to tell him the horrible news. He just couldn't. He heard the door unlock and knew it was them. He stopped and hugged Kenshi and then his step son.
"Uh... Ermac? Are you ok?" Kenshi asked.
"You might need to sit down. And I'm not sure Takeda should hear the news"
Kenshi sat on the couch with Ermac and Takeda in the middle. Ermac sighed as he knew no other way to put it.
"Well... this morning... I got a call and it was for you. A murder occurred just a couple of blocks away and... all that was left was a body."
"What does this have to do with me or Takeda?"
"I'm getting to that. Well... they examined the body and... it was... it was Suchin." Ermac's voice cracked from trying not cry saying her name. "I'm so sorry"
Takeda looked at Ermac and then his father. By the looks on their faces, it was true. Something horrible happened to his mother.
"Will she come back?" Takeda asked.
Kenshi shook his head and hugged Takeda as tears began to stream down his cheeks. Takeda began to sniffle and mumbled "mama" under his breathe. The rest of that day was as gloomy as it was outside.
At night, Takeda opened the door to his father and step father's room. He climbed up the bed and lied in the middle. Kenshi woke up from the movement.
"Takeda? What's wrong?" Kenshi asked.
"I'm protecting you and Papa Ermac" Takeda whispered.
Kenshi hugged Takeda. He felt his husband's arm hug the both of them. The rest of the night, Takeda whimpered in his sleep and kept reaching for something. Kenshi kept waking up and hugged his son to calm him down. He just couldn't sleep knowing his son wasn't able to rest easy.
At the police department, two of the forensics begin to examine the body of Suchin further in case they missed something. Skarlet began to cut the body open.
"I thought I told you to help me look at the body from the outside! The inside has already been examined twice." Shinnok gravely said.
"You never know when something we missed is in here." She keenly replied. "Like a secret tattoo or something wild!"
Shinnok gave her a 'you're fucking joking right?' kind of look that she has been ignoring since the second week she started her job here. He took a quick peek and suddenly he saw it. "Maybe I shouldn't have doubted you"
"Hmm?"
"There's a secret carving on her rib cage... how the hell did they manage to do that?"
"Holy shit! This is like that one show with that angel and those hunters!"
"What?"
"Never mind. But this is crazy!! It kind of looks like a quote. Or is it a symbol?" She quickly retrieved a magnifying glass and looked closer. "Aww... it's a symbol... it's just two dragons-"
"The black dragon!? They couldn't have had a connection with her."
"Why not?"
"The bullets we found aren't the ones they use"
"Damn it."
"Well good job... and go home or visit your sister or something"
"Told you you'd need me!" She stuck out her tongue and took a quick picture of the carving. "I'll tell my siblings you said hi or something even if they don't know you"
She removed her gloves and took off her lab coat. She put on her jacket and grabbed her mini backpack. "I'll see you later in the morning! Tell your boyfriend Raiden I said hey!"
A plate immediately broke once that was said. She giggled as she heard him cuss. "Or was it husband? I forget sometimes"
"Just go home Skarlet!!"
